Roughly comparing the attendance figures the year prior to Pearl's arrival to this past season.

7000 more average per game
x 16 total games

Ticket cost/concessions,etc., TV revenue,etc., what a hire! He should be closer to Phil's salary since Phil's base was already established coming in and Bruce had to build his fan base from scratch basically. Roughly grossing 2-3 mil per year at home more per year not counting TV deals. Thus new arena upgrades.

After this year I think Bruce goes to the table with quite a few bargining chips.

As much as I love Pearl, I'll use a common line from this board: "We don't pay a coach $2mil+ to win the SECe."

The fan base has always been there. He has just put a product on the court worth watching.

And I didn't mean that in a bad way because I've always loved UT bball. The energy CBP brings does make you forget this team didn't hang a banner the last 2 years.

I also think that Pearl would be the first to mention that fact.

Again, if this year turns out like most hope and expect, then he will have a lot in his corner; but talking about that now is irrevelent.

i agree with ut ie 95...the fan base has always been there, just think of how many fans watched horrible basketball before Pearl got here. Regardless, I remember several games in the Peterson and Green that were awesome to watch. Problem was it was never consistent, that is what Pearl has brought to this program.

Still, to the larger point about the business aspect, I think this probably is the most successful the program has ever been. The Mears era was in Stokely after all...
