I touched on this in another post and decided it needed its own thread. There are two different editions of the Commercial Appeal today. One titled "De-Clawed" and a second titled "Unleashed"

well I picked up the de-clawed edition in downtown on my way out of town. When we stopped just outside of New Albany, MS i noticed the paper in the vending box looked different than the one I got earlier. The whole paper is the same "Except" for the front page and the sports section. This is the weird part......The "Unleashed" edition has NO COVERAGE FROM THE GAME. It has stories from game day, and activities leading up to it, but NOTHING from the game.

"If we don't write it, it didn't happen."

or maybe

"Mama said if you can't say anything nice...."

Maybe they did so on purpose.
The may have made a Pregame Newspaper and a Postgame Newspaper both to be published today.

local media can do what they want.... depending on high up the highest memphis grad is at that paper.

It's possible that their "wide-distribution" papers had to go out before the game was over, so they just went with the gameday material. But, the local paper distribution was capable of being held until the game was decided.....

when the paper has to be delivered to areas further from Memphis, you get the earlier edition....it happens all the time

This was what I was going for.
A better explanation.
I don't think they denied it happened just didn't have the enough time to ship it to the rest of the nation.

I figured that was the case. It is just more fun to pull out the dark glasses and start looking for the helicopters.:shades:

This is typical with "larger" papers that sell papers outside of their local market. Because the game was late, there wasn't enough time for the paper to wait until the game was over before printing one edition that would be distributed to all its selling points. I've seen this several times with the Knoxville News Sentinel when there is a late football game. Once you leave the Knoxville market, it is very difficult to find the latest edition.

One is an Early Sunday Edition, Actually goes out Saturday Evening before the game would have been over. They have them available on Saturday's here in the Twin Cities.

I'm Actually in West Memphis, Arkansas which is less than 20 miles from the CA, but I get the early addition for some odd reason. I'm closer than many parts of Shelby County to the CA, but I still have to read it as well. Makes me angry, as well.

Commercial Appeal is a waste of trees. If you actually pay for this newspaper, Al Gore can blame you for Global Warming.
