Don't even try to argue or debate them. They'll never get it.
I understand but I am wired to argue - can't help it.
And I just don't get why anyone thinks it's good to downplay an opponent. The higher regarded any opponent may be - the better - win or lose.
A win over 13th ranked Memphis will likely move the VOLS up in both ranking and seeding - and until we play KY Auburn or Kansas none of our games have as much potential to do that.

Exactly and our seed will be much higher like you said.

NO - I do not disregard them and despite playing Washington in Toronto and FSU (loss) and VCU on a tournament neutral court, Memphis is still higher-ranked at present than either Washington or VCU. Washington was ranked 20 and VCU 21 without the loss to Purdue at the time of our games
So Memphis is still #6 on the list as far as games of importance even with it being at home and the others on "neutral" courts.
I don't see any reason for your or anyone else to try to downplay the significance of this game with Memphis - ESPN seems to think it worthy of extra publicity
MEMPHIS - TENNESSEE FUTURE STOCK VALUE so what's the point of trying to downplay this or any other opponent?
You need to check out the way Quadrant wins with the NET rankings (what the NCAA uses) are weighted.

I’m not downplaying it to say that it’s a bottom game on our schedule, I’m downplaying it from the standpoint that there are many fans acting like it’s the #1 or #2 game on schedule...that was my point. I get why it’s a big game for the fans, and don’t fault them, I’m saying from the staffs/programs view.

You need to check out the way Quadrant wins with the NET rankings (what the NCAA uses) are weighted.
Reading the NET information I see that home games vs 1-30 are equal to road games vs 1-75 and margins are a factor.
I don't see which 1-30 or 1-75 rankings are used but current 12/14 RPI rankings are in the image - AP & Coaches polls only show votes for 30 -35 teams
Taking the RPI Kansas - Auburn - Arkansas - Cincinnati - and Memphis are above us and Florida, Washington and LSU are in the 1-75 but LSU & UF are home games

Either way, Memphis is a Top 10 game and likely #6. If we win @Cincy and @Arkansas those games will top Memphis in value per the RPI and NET
So @Kansas is #1 followed by @Auburn @Arkansas and @Cincy followed by Auburn at home and possibly neutral Wash. making Memphis #6 or #7?
I am just asking - I don't pretend to know which 1-30 or 1-75 rankings the NET uses or how much margin figures into it.
I understand the NCAA used the RPI in the past: I find it quite odd that KY is way down at 132 with Cincy & Arkansas at 25 & 17
Tennessee at 35 is beneath Memphis at 28 - Is the loss to #6 FSU on a neutral court by 3 more valuable than a 3 point win over Memphis at home?
CURRENT RPI.PNG
The RPI page also has this as their S curve 1-11 Seedings projection showing Kansas & Aub on the 1 line and Memphis on the 3 with KY & LSU 5s VCU & Ark 6s
and Tennessee as the last 8 seed with Florida as 11 So by this it seems Memphis is the 4th on the list?

Again...I wasn’t trying to say Memphis game doesn’t matter, it doesn’t...my point was that it’s not one of the biggest games of the year (overall) like many fans are acting it is (understandably so).

Given its home, there are multiple other games that resume wise will have a bigger impact...Washington, VCU, FSU, Cincinnati, Kansas, @ Mississippi State, UK x2, Auburn x2 all very well could be more impactful games on the resume, and that’s not even considering the SEC race factor which could be an added element.

So you're a coach on the staff? Please take Turner out!

Yes im drunk, and yeah i might have a run on sentence or two but we gotta win this damn game. I just rewatched our FSU shitshow and just have a feelin we will see that team again sometime. I hope its not this saturday, we have one of the biggest recruits (darnell) and just the bragging rights we deserve over that crappy school. In order to win we must 1) Lamonte has to have less than 4 turnovers and start taking some damn shots 2) Bowden needs to be consistent from either 3 or these long jumpers he loves 3) yves is gonna need 2+ blocks and stay outta foul touble and 4) Josiah needs to have his best game yet or at least one of the youngsters need to shine! We are lucky its at home and need to will these guys to victory because this game means more than just a W. With wiseman we wouldve lost but i see it now UT 69 Memphis 63. And for my footballers, boy is it gonna suck not having bituli, jennings, and calloway. So much passion between the 3
Well, both Turner and Bowden **** the bed and put forth one of the worst offensive performances I’ve ever witnessed.
