I live an hour from Memphis so I'm seriously considering going to that game. Already bought tickets for Oregon vs Tennessee. It's the day before my sons birthday, and will be his first game.

starting him out pretty rough, eh?

The joke was, "if ut gets throttled by Oregon, I will never take my son with me again." I really don't get why you slide ut-martin in there.

I will be there. We always have a larger turn out than Memphis does. Would be glad to give any info on places to visit (clubs and bars) while any of you are here.

Me and some buddies from college will be there, our university is little over an hour away and about 6 from knoxville so it might be the only game we get to see :cray:

It doesn't matter how many will make the trip. There are enough Vol fans around here to fill the Liberty Bowl. Seen it several times, same thing when Ole Miss comes.

Memphis is trying to establish a new tailgating experience this year called Tiger Lane. Basically its a knock off of the grove, but will supposedly be a little more easy to navigate from its layout (and probably lack of fans). Heard today that they sold all of the allotted spots for this area. Anyway, might be something decent to walk through and experience if you make it down, or then again it may be yet another laughing point at which to ridicule Memphis fans.

My BBQ recommendation: If you are looking for some to take to a tailgate, Tops, 3 Little Pigs, and Central BBQ (2 blocks from Liberty Bowl) are all safe bets and good representations of Memphis BBQ.

Anyone up for setting up a Volnation tailgate for this game? Just a thought.

Ditto to that. Central BBQ has some of the best pulled sandwiches and BBQ nachos you'll ever eat. It's right by the Liberty Bowl ,but it'll surely be full before the game.

Count me in for the VN tailgate! :dance2:

You guys that haven't been to Neyland need to remedy that pronto. That should be your highest priority - Period.

Agreed. But I gotta say, I don't know about sitting out in BF Egypt when I can watch the game here in HD (Yes, Tennessee seriously is on National television a lot, which is spectacular) . If I lived closer that would be a much different story. Paying 500-600 for a plane ticket on top of the game ticket certainly has slowed things down.

I do need to get in with Oregon somehow. I am certainly going to the Oregon game in 2013 one way or another. I was so close to going down to UCLA for the game in '08. I am glad I didn't now. That would have been as bad of a trip back as the Washington State/Michigan Rose Bowl was. THERE ARE STILL 3 F'N SECONDS LEFT ON THE CLOCK!!!!!!!!!

Y'all Vol fans in Memphis fill that stadium with BIG ORANGE! C'mon up to Neyland for the game on Rocky Top, too. You won't be disappointed.
