Memphis fan basketball IQ

Same. The section I was in had a good mix of Vol and Tiger fans. I can tell you both sides really hated the refs in how they were calling the game. The loudest I got and the Vol fans in my area was that weak 4th foul on Williams that guy flopped hard.
Word is they flop hard everywhere they go because it's good practice to flop so that they become more effective flopping in games. Flopping in the grocery store, flopping at the movies, flopping at the park. Man, those guys can flop! The Memphis Floppers!

“Honestly I’m concerned just a bit if I’m a UT fan. You have the refs, all the size, and our freshmen guards missing everything. And we still hang 92 on you and you barely win in double figures. Against a team that is basically a v1.0 rebuild this season anyway. I’m gonna be in Knoxville next year for sure ... in good seats ... when we get that help coming in.”
Found on a Memphis board 😂😂😂

I like how they think the refs were in our pocket, but really they were doing Memphis a favor by trying to keep the game close. If they had allowed us to play at full pace, they would have been blown out. I'm certainly not concerned like he thinks we should be.

This. The horrible officiating helped Memphis stay in the game.

I think Penny is going to hurt their culture.

Seems to me he’s sending a wrong message to his players.

Flopping & whining like a bunch of b*tches isn’t going to earn you respect from other coaches.

Barnes knows this.

I am in Memphis, and I think this game is emotional for everyone. I have not heard of any issues like this before with Penny, and they are just 5-5 this year. Just think UT-Memphis can bring out issues. I don’t think it’s the norm.

While I think the display today by Hardaway was inexcusable I’ve met and talked to him on several occasions. Always been friendly and engaging so whatever the game plan for Memphis today was (I’m still not sure cause Vols just hung a ugly 102 on them) it MUST cause a pause for their fans. That was just bad and I agree if the refs stayed out of this Vols win in a much bigger blow out. Game at no time was in doubt.

Penny has his own issues. Not sure he should be leading young men. Especially when he doesn’t show them what humility looks like. The team, city and community deserve better from a man from Memphis.

I am a huge UT everything fan. However, my grandparents were huge Memphis fans and they raised me on Larry Finch and Penny Hardaway. So basically I am for Memphis anytime they don't play UT. Penny is a great guy and will get the program up and going again. We are obviously better than them this year to state the obvious, but I think this series is going to produce some great games in the future.

His coaching ability is yet to be determined. Also not so sure the NCAA won't be camped on his doorstep before long

I yelled out “Memphis is flopping like the LA Clippers today” after that flop on Grant that got him his 4th personal. Got some dirty looks.

For those that don’t know, Memphis Tiger fans are usually Grizz fans too and they “hate” flopping teams. How ironic that their college team was full of floppers today. That’s pathetic basketball.

Flopping is a main stay in pro ball. They either flop or run over you (and get away with both). It's no wonder that a "Penney" team would play this way. Bye the way, both announcers complained about this call. But in the defense of the officials, if they hadn't called around 60 fouls, this game would have turned out real ugly. Not only by the teams but by some of the more "passionate" Memphis sports fans ( from high school on up in every sport).

Congrats to UT for the win. You definitely have the better team, both in size and talent. Barnes has really come into his own at UT - not sure why he was unable to do this at Texas. However, I was OK with our effort in coming back and keeping within striking distance. It would have been a 20 point blowout with Tubby coaching and a 30 point plus debacle with Pastner. We’ll get a talent upgrade next year and, although they will be freshmen, we’ll hopefully give you guys a better challenge in Knoxville next year.

With a statement like this, you must be from Memphis.

Yep, and I hate living here. The city is a corrupt cesspool of bigotry, ignorance, and corruption. On a sports side of things MOST Memphis state fan has a secondary team (Bama) they root for everyyear and then have the nerve to talk **** about (secondary) team when they beat us in football. It's a joke and my dislike for Memphis is almost if not more than gator level and hell I even went to college here.

Me and my wife were screaming proudly "it's great to be a Tennessee vol!" leaving the forum yesterday. Couldn't have been any more perfect. **** Memphis

Memphis is a No-class school with a no-class coach with no-class players in a No-class city.
And in case you have forgotten, Bama still cheats.

What really bothers me is that they think because they only lost by 10 points that they are somehow better than us or think we're overrated. Then again, I can't say I'm really surprised seeing how their fans reacted in the audience the whole night.

Like this, the bottom video:

Where they are outraged over everything, even when their players were blatantly in the wrong. Trashy. Or how they eventually had to mute one of their mics because it kept picking up one of the Memphis fans talking crap the whole game. Saying things like Admiral sucks.

Penny also pizzed me off in his post game comments. In that little vocal altercation between Bone and the UM player right there at the end of the game, that ended up causing the 4 technicals, Penny said that after the refs broke them up and sent everyone to their respective benches that the UT players were coming towards the Memphis bench with their fists balled up looking for a fight. What he left out was that after the refs broke up Bone and the UM player, and Bone was walking back toward the UT bench, there were 2 to 3 UM players following him still mouthing at him. It looked like Admiral and Bowden were the closest and first to notice and immediately headed towards Bone and the UM players.
