ball to Jones and Warren---a LOT. Jones had four catches against ucla; he should have had 8. Why are we swinging the ball out to a fullback in the flat--a guy who can't run--instead of Jones. Now, granted, it's possible that the defense might not be expecting a pass to Cooper--and they will track Jones. Still, I think it might be difficult for a LB to cover Jones out of the backfield and then tackle him, whereas Cooper is good for about three yards max.

This gets to my earlier point about a dearth of playmakers. We don't have many, so get the ball more often to those we do have! Warren has to be used more, too--which is pretty obvious.

I agree,
On a side note I thought Coopers play was one of the very few brightspots on offense.

i would have loved to see jones get the ball more. it seemed like every time he touched it he made a good positive move and something good happened.

cooper was the most positive we had on offense, besides hardesty.

Let's not confuse what Clawson intended with what Crompton delivered. I think the OC liked your idea a lot, the QB didn't get the ball there.

If jones played at florida hed be another harvin, he has that kind of running ability in traffic, he just glides through it. To be honest as bad as crompton struggled in parts of that game I would have run the g-gun the second half. That kid has it, our coaches just cant figure out how to use all the talent he has.

you know they threw that one slant to jones and he was gone....... then they never threw it again.

We havent seen the slant in years I was excited about that. I also like the motion they used.

It's funny you say Cooper can't run because he played RB in HS.

Yeah, with the entire offensive package they installed just for him and all.

Cooper was powerful at FB, he used both hands to cover the ball and punished people. We need that toughness on offense.

I honestly think that the game plan going in to UCLA was constructed to win the game without showing too much of his hand. For instance Jones was in motion a lot but was never given the gall on a reverse, hand off, etc. I also didn't see many WR screens and if you're talking about getting the ball to players in space then that is one of the best ways. Jones will also be throwing out of the G-gun in the UF game.

The showed one replay of cooper blocking a LB or safety coming up on a run to the right and the guy just crumped and went down instantly.
