I heard a rumor that he was the head candidate for DC. Thought I would throw that out there and let you all discuss.

I personally think that it would be a great hire.

Mel Tucker would be a nice hire...as good as Randy Shannon in my opinion.

this should go along with the shannon thread as to good to be true, so dooley won't do it.

Tucker and Dooley were both on Saban's staff together at LSU.

For those unfamiliar with Tucker, he is highly thought of around the NFL by players, coaches, and general mgrs. He is disciplined and highly enthusiastic. He is thought of as a "players' coach". He is a very recognizable name to Florida high school players ands coaches.

Jacksonville Jaguars: Mel Tucker

he looks like one bad dude, may not be too bad a hire. looks can be decieving, however. jags were bad pretty bad on defense this year.

From the sound of things, we will not know anything until Wednesday, when Dooley is back from the Coaches Convention and all of the team has returned to campus.

I think folks like the OP are just taking what they want to happen and then throw it out there as a "rumor." Notice, he hasn't posted again. No substantiation of any kind.

How is this guy as a recruiter? Thats the main reason I want Shannon. He's not only a great DC but a great recruiter. I'm sure there are others out there just as good as Shannon coaching wise but we need someone that can recruit as well. Plus Shannon can recruit the state of Fl. We really havent had that since Eddie Gran left.
