Not seeing this guy being any better than 5th or 6th option at best.

Certainly shows where Fulmers head is at interviewing a career assistant on mostly bad teams though.

Wants someone he can control and provide "input" with.

With a few signs pointing to Tucker, what say you VolNation?

Resume
1997–1998 Michigan State (GA)
1999 Miami (OH) (DB)
2000 LSU (DB)
2001–2003 Ohio State (DB)
2004 Ohio State (Co-DC)
2005–2007 Cleveland Browns (DB)
2008 Cleveland Browns (DC)
2009–2011 Jacksonville Jaguars (DC)
2011 Jacksonville Jaguars (interim HC)
2012 Jacksonville Jaguars (AHC/DC)
2013–2014 Chicago Bears (DC)
2015 Alabama (AHC/DB)
2016–Present Georgia (DC/DB)

NFL Experience, On 2 National Championship Coaching Staffs, 2 great years with Bama/Georgia. I am certainly on board. Can recruit at top level as well...

If he is so good, he wouldn't have a new job every year. Some of these defenses he coordinated for were some of the worst in the NFL.

His years in Jacksonville started pretty well then his defenses faded when the talent started to fall apart. Being in illinois I can for sure say that the team invested nothing into his defenses for the time he was there. Saban is a smart guy and jumped on him when the bears coaches got dumped. Smart jumped and hired him away from Saban when he got a shot. The guy can coach, and i like people with NFL ties. If he can get a good OC with him, i think he can be very successful.

Other than the Penn State situation, what’s the difference between him and Schiano?

Recruiting

Tucker doesn’t do it. He wasn’t/isn’t the lead recruiter for any Ga commits this year or last. Didn’t at Bama either. Super good guy tho. Good x and o coach. Did mention he was a good guy?

That is what would have happened with Schiano. Tucker is a well established recruiter in the south. We only have to worry about the same schools like usual. Bama, UGA, LSU, UF, AUB.

Not true, total opposite. Schiano is the #2 recruiter in the nation including the south. Some BIG names to his resume, Tucker hasn’t snagged a recruit yet.

And Schiano can develop talent with the best of them. Vols fans really screwed the pooch on that one

Not sure how I feel about people with little to no head coaching experience becoming head coach in one of the toughest conferences in college football. And Coaching a team with one of the toughest schedules in that conference.

Maybe I’ll be proven wrong, but for now I say nay.

Let's see - coaches who begin HC careers in SEC — Will Muschamp who owns the Vols, Kirby Smart in the playoffs, Dan Mullen at Florida, Stoops at UK, what's his name at Vandy and the Mizzou coach. Seems to me like there are some good ones in that group and all beat what we've had. I say Jeremy Pruitt should be the man. He was a winner as a player and has been nothing but a big winner as an assistant and a coordinator. He has been around some of the best at all levels so he knows how to organize and manage.

Looks like his approval is split down the middle. I'd like to know why he wouldn't be a great hire. Sounds like everyone is sold on Pruitt.
