That's why we should take him.

And I know I rated Pruitt an 8 last night, but I had time to think since then.

Do we really want a Bammer coaching here? Is our pride that hurt? Look what happened when we had a Bammer AD (note: did hire Barnes after a few tries)...

Mel Tucker is less proven in college and was a near complete disaster in the NFL who was fired multiple times for incompetence. I'd take Kevin Steele over him.

I will say it rises a small concern that if he were highly successful, I have little doubt he leave for Alabama if offered. Now I don't see it ever getting to that point but it is something to consider.

With that said, if he was successful enough here to be considered as a replacement when Saban retires, then he'll surely leave our program in far better shape than he found it. So, at least in this regard, it's probably worth the risk.

Now, like I said, I unfortunately fear it's something we won't have to worry about.

Who gives AF. Coach's don't have allegiance's when it comes to their job. You think Dabo last year said" I'm gonna blow this game to my Alma Mater can win another championship"? Give me a break. So when Spurrier was at UF but was leaving to be HC at TN would you have supported that? What about S.Carolina? Last 2 hires was a Gator and a Dawg..Damn sure hasn't hurt them.

Don't care where the coach comes from. Jones has this roster just as bad as when he got here. We need SEC caliber players. We need a coach and staff that can recruit them and coach them up.

More experience than Pruitt. Multiple NCs. Top 20 defense as dc of Ohio State. Top ten defense in the NFL. Top 5 defense this year. Good in the NFL and great in college. Just stop.

He was a co-dc at Ohio State for 1 season. He was fired in Cleveland, Jacksonville, and Chicago. All but 2 of his NFL defenses were in the bottom 10 in the league. His Chicago defenses were the worst in their entire history and broke 90 year old NFL records for futility. Just stop.

What gets me is that people always talk about people leaving here to go to another place when it comes open. That has only happened twice that I can remember. Doug Dickey and Kiffin. How did those two work out after leaving here????:lolabove:

His head coaches were fired and the staff was not retained. That is a huge difference. The Bears roster was one of the oldest and least talented. He did well in everywhere except Chicago.

This is so ridiculous. Dabo is a Bammer too. I don't see him sabotaging Clemson or not giving his all over there due to his Alabama ties. A Bammer who may bring Clemson two national championships in two years.

edit: typo

The Bears were 3rd in the league in defense and lost 3 players to free agency and fell to 31st his first year there. He had 2 decent years in Jacksonville, the rest of his NFL career was the kind that gets coaches fired. The complaints about his defenses were that players were not fundamentally sound, missed tackles, lacked ball awareness, was often out of position in pass defense. Sound familiar?

Coaches are mercenaries, all of them from the HC down to the GA’s. Gundy, Frost, Harbaugh maybe are the exceptions.

BS. Scott Frost case in point. Smart just came home too, coaches, especially former players, absolutely have allegiances.

Nick Saban is the ULTIMATE Bammer!

I never want him to coach Tennessee
