Mel Kiper: Berry #2 in draft

If Tampa under Raheem Morris drafted Berry that would be great. Morris worked for Monte last year. That would make for a very aggressive defense. Wouldn't the Bucs have to trade up to get Berry?

I would also love to see the Saints trade up to get Berry...

History shows that the #1 pick will be a quarterback, but the recent trend of failures at that position would lead me in another direction if I were a GM. Look at what the Texans did when they drafted Mario Williams instead of Reggie Bush, Vince Young, etc. They got pummelled in the media, but looks like it turned out to be a great move on their part.

When you have a sure thing on defense or O-line, it sure would be hard to pass up. And Berry is as sure-thing as you can get.

While I would agree with you 100% of the time in the past, the "sure thing" by most accounts last year was Glenn Dorsey and boy am I glad Mr. Dimitroff passed on the "sure thing" to get Matt Ryan. Ryan and Flacco kind of changed some folks' minds and based on how this year's rooks in Detroit and NY do, QB's may still reign at the top. I hope Berry goes as high as possible, but I'd rather him not wind up in a place like Detroit.

I'd say it depends on the situation.
Does Berry go into the draft with no noticeable injuries while Bradford has this injury lingering all season?
Does Berry go off on the SEC and Bradford look mediocre when he returns?
Does my team have Daunte Culpepper on the bench and no SS at all?

I see your point, but...

I'll see your bet and raise you Jamarcus Russell. And, in my opinion, Stafford won't do anything to bolster your argument.

I disagree kind sir. I have been a Lions fan my whole life (unfortunatly) and I firmly believe Stafford is fiiiiinally the man. He looks good.

I'd take Berry unless Bradford comes out in workouts and the combine etc. throwing out of skin..even then the questions about being able to properly read a D not OU style would still be there.

I guess we'll see. I thought he was over-hyped coming out of college, and I think he is still very un-polished. Kid has a cannon for an arm, though.

I know there is approximately 0% chance of this ever happening, but could you imagine a healthy Bob Sanders and Eric Berry playing together? Holy crap talk about some huge hits!
