Bringing my 12-year-old son for our eighth annual mother-son trip to Rocky Top this weekend. (I’ve been eyeing this game for longer than it made sense to.)

We’ll do the Vol Walk, the Salute, and all the typical stuff. But I’m wondering if there are any opportunities on Friday to surprise him with a chance to see/meet some players? I know Volunteer Village sometimes has athletes from other sports there on Saturday…is there anything similar with the football players prior to game day?

Thanks in advance and GBO. 🍊🧡

Not sure about prior to the game but if you hang around after, you could probably get a few opportunities outside of the stadium.
There will be former players around campus as well. Erik Ainge, Jayson Swain, Daniel Hood, Troy Fleming and Bobby Scott all do radio and should be around Vol village on game day.

Thank you! In years past he was too little to stay around even longer following the game when we’d already been on campus all day; then last year we attended the Ole Miss game so it was past midnight as it was. He’s old enough now that we can stay on campus a bit longer.

I also didn’t think about Ainge and Swain doing their radio shows…he’d get a kick out of seeing them in-person. Thanks again!

Yeah, I was thinking that it being a 3:30 game, it may not be too bad, sticking around for a while afterward.
Those late games can be tough on the little ones, AND mom and dad too.😞

I hope your son gets the chance to get some autographs but most importantly I hope he gets to see the Vols take down the tide! We have a whole generation of Vol fan who has no idea what it’s like to experience something like that!

Not football players but the Spyre tailgate will likely have basketball and baseball players at it. For the FL game, Josiah Jordan James was there along with some baseball players. It's at Circle Park this week.

Tennessee vs Alabama Tailgate

This is great…looking into their membership options now. Thank you! My son does three sports and loves JJ and the Diamond Vols, too.

That’s the plan. 😉

We were there in 2016 to end the streak against the Gators, and look forward to experiencing much of the same this weekend.

I’m also an ‘05 alum and have raised him to understand that no one has beaten Alabama more than Tennessee football has. But he’s extremely excited about this one.
