Media jumpin on the Lane train

Not all the media is jumpin on the Lane train. I found this gem on Fox sports.

Settle down, Lane

1. Yo, Lane Kiffin, enjoy losing a football game. Enjoy playing Florida within 10 points. Enjoy calling that late timeout. Enjoy running the ball on 3rd and 19 in the Florida red zone. You think you're so cool. Hey, you lost a ball game. You're just like the USC linebacker who — after making a tackle at his own 4, just moments before Washington kicked the game-winning field goal — strutted like a moron and celebrated his hard hit. Live it up, Lane: We should all be so smugly self-satisfied after losing an SEC East football game. How was that UCLA debacle, anyway? The more you draw attention to yourself, the more your coaching credentials plummet. Maybe Al Davis knew something the rest of us didn't. (Scarier yet, maybe Al Davis actually did something smart.)

2. Does Tim Tebow have to give a huge motivational speech tonight? Maybe he should, because if he doesn't, this Florida team will get ambushed before too long, as was the case last season against Ole Miss.

Of course, the media will jump on the Lane Train. It's the only spin on the story. We played great...Florida certainly didn't play poorly. We have an average quarterback that cannot be depended on to win the game and we have a firey coach who will become a master at recruiting with a staff that will make him look good in the days to come. This is one incredible SEC staff on paper. The future looks bright while we can watch it played out.

Somewhere Jabar Gaffney slammed down his television remote and said, "That's a touchdown, bro."

This little gem from Clay Travis is my favorite.

Gotta say, the vols came out playing hard and their offensive line deserved a LOT of credit today. Hardesty was able to churn through our defense for a few plays thanks to a very admirable performance by that O line. If you guys had a better excuse for a quarterback, you might be on to something great this season.

Furthermore, Monte K drew up an excellent plan for your defense. Eric Berry was perfectly utilized and if it wasn't for Tebow being around, I really wouldn't be able to argue against Berry getting a Heisman. He's just flat-out great.

So... with that out of the way, are you guys really that happy over not getting blown out?? Really? Is that the sad state of tennessee football, that not getting blown out in a romp is now a moral victory? That's pathetic and SAD. Expectations at your place have hit an all-time low from reading these posts, and it actually saddens me that the once great UF-UT rivalry is dragged down by a school that prides itself on not being blown out in losses anymore.

The intense UF-UT games from the 90's and early part of this decade made me love college football, and I gotta say it's pretty sad to hear tennessee nation cheering over a loss. I take it as a pretty huge compliment that you guys are happy we didn't hang half a hundred on lame kiffin.

By the way, Kiffin will still get knocked around by the rest of the SEC. Don't forget how much he ran his mouth about Spurrier and Bama. I'd root hard for UT if it wasn't for that gigantic, obnoxious mouth of his.
What saddens me is that taxpayer money is used to provide computers in libraries for Florida welfare trash like you to use.

What makes you think Florida is on the way down? We just beat you.

I can't argue that Kiffin has the program on a slightly more competitive track (albeit with a strong touch of classlessness). But to say that you guys "won" because you didn't lose by fifty is plain sad. That just reaffirms a notion that Tennessee is no longer a top tier football program and it doesn't deserve to be regarded on the same level as Florida.

Possibly the fact that your entire offense is based around one player, and that one player is leaving next year. If it wasn't for Tebow, the misdirection stuff doesn't work and you couldn't get 3rd and shorts. If you take that away from your offense, you would have had about 90 yds yesterday.

Well, I was going to comment on that dude's post, but I do not think I can do better than this...

this:

"Urban Meyer came to a knife fight armed with two handguns and a howitzer cannon, Kiffin arrived with a salad fork and an oyster cracker. He tossed the oyster cracker at a Gator coed with fat arms, and dueled as best he could with his salad fork of a quarterback"

This is coming from a program that was nothing until the 90's. That is what makes me sick about Florida fans their program has just gotten better in the light of history. It was just YESTERDAY that they took the lead in the overall series. Hey FLORIDA you just got a glimpse of the future today. Enjoy this one because the tables are going to turn.:nono:

Thanks, but we do not need you, we have plenty of classy fans who are quite happy with our coaching staff. Keep kissing Urban's ring.

I laugh at quotes like this, considering this same fan base kissed the hindquarters of the most mouthy, obnoxious coaches in SEC history. Now, I guess its out of vogue.

QGator, what about Saurday on UT's part was "classless"? Are you UF fans never going to get over CLK accusing CUM (admittedly wrongly) of cheating? You can call it classless all you want....but it isnt any worse than telling a QB recruit that you are trying to get that you are recruiting Tim Tebow as a Linebacker now, is it? I dont think any UT fans who knows a damn thing about football honestly thinks that UF is one the way "down". There is too much talent in your own backyard for that to happen.....unless Urban leaves for ND when Weis gets fired in the off season and UF hires another Zook. UF will be UF..... its just that everyone realizes now, from our recruiting class coming in, to how hard our players played in a game that under Fulmer, they would have probably quit after giving up a long kickoff return on the first play of the game....that UT is one the way up. Rapidly. The talent Grand Canyon that Phil had put us in (and that UAG and UF have benefited from the past 5+ years) is going away....and our players are now coached to play hard till the finish. Choose not to believe UT is on the way up.....thats fine. I can PROMISE you that your coaches know it.

I dont think anyone who is a real football fan believes this for a second. UF will always have Top5 talent....the difference in the coming years will be, UT will also, and we now have the coaching staff to actually develop it.

I dont see why UF fans think Kiffin is so "cocky" or "arrogant" anyways. Was he supposed to come in and act like he would be happy to just be competitive? Look at your own coach.....he isnt exactly Mr. Nice Guy either, but I dont see you *****ing about that. I guess its a case of being able to dish it out, but not able to take it. Bottom line is, since fall camp started our coach has said NOTHING about ANYONE. His comments, whether you choose to believe they were calculated or not, got a team with a 5-7 record the previous year to be without question the MOST talked about program in the country.....and, oh yeah, as a result.....notice we have a top 3 recruiting class on its way in, something we havent had in years. All after winning all of 5 games last year. Yeah, that CLK....what a loud mouth idiot. He would have been MUCH better served if he had came in and been quiet, status quo, clapping for mistakes and "workin like heck". I could care less what anyone outside of the UT family thinks about our coach. The proof is in the pudding.....and it is some heavenly chocolate/vanilla swirl right now with the players we have coming into the program. :)

Can someone explain to me why Florida fans hang out on a UT message board. I was trying to think of a reason I would be checking out a Florida board and I came up with two:

1) They're more interested in what's going on with our team than what's going on with their own, or

2) They know their reign is about to end, so they figure they might as well try to get as many jabs in as they can. They'll disappear when things aren't going their way.

Either way, kinda sad...
