Georgia game was the first game I was able to watch without screaming at every play this year and last year. We havent seen our best yet. Is All barn the game?

That game is going to be another one that we pick apart looking for the good things and trying to make a case that we are improving in certain areas. I wish we could make a splash by beating them, but they are 4-1 and number 8 in the country with a win over a good Washington team. Not saying that they necessarily deserve to be number 8 (I think they will fall in the rankings soon), but I don't think we have the horses to run with them yet. We may have enough fight to keep it interesting, but I think they prove to be the better team at the end of the 4th. Hopefully I am wrong.

aren't all the games this year a "measuring stick" to hopefully point to a better Vol future?

GO VOLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The measuring stick for this year's team is, sadly, the back end of the schedule. South Carolina, Kentucky, Missouri, and Vandy will tell us how far behind the rest of the east we are. If we can win a couple of those it will certainly give me some measure of hope going forward.

There has to be a SEC game somewhere on this schedule where the other team turns it over three or four times to us. It could've been Georgia but everytime they made a mistake they got the ball back. We have to get the ball on turnovers.

I'm going to act out like one of the blue haired college snowflakes if I have to listen to anyone feel good about "keeping this within 2-3 touchdowns" as a + sign.
When the score is 56- 10 then, dont talk about how the team is getting worse.

you guys can talk about measuring sticks, better next year, anything you want but until we get a dynamic QB under center we are gonna struggle. I give you a perfect example with UT ties......the fighting Haslams in Cleveland. They are essentially the same team as they has last year with the exception of 1 player and now they are not getting creamed but they have a chance to win both games Mayfield has played in. The QB to get us some momentum and start the process back to where we should be is not on the roster and has not been on the roster for the last 10 years.

Sure you can talk about some of the QB's that have been here that were pretty good players. A couple have been really good players but none of them were top 10 QB's in the nation, none of them were of the Mayfield or Tua caliber. None of them were drafted in the 1st round. Get comfy right where we are at until that dude signs with UT. Bama experienced the same thing but on a different level. Their team is on a different level now that their offense is dynamic and balanced.

I wish they'd let JT Shrout start against Charlotte. That said, JG isn't the problem here. Dobbs being so good and making our offense look better than it was was, in fact, a problem.

JG is a problem. He is terrible on 3rd down and keeping our defense off the field. He cannot read a defense nor can he check off the 1st receiver. This limits what kind of plays Helton can call making us very predictable.

Want to know why you were able to watch with less stress? Two reasons.

One, UT played mistake free for the most part with only the late fumble being the only blemish, UT didn’t beat themselves.

Two, you just enjoyed the game. No stress of expectations as everyone predicted the outcome. If you look at the stats, it was the worst loss of the season but it was a clean game. UT didn’t give it away like they did the Fla game. I’m fine with losing if I get beat, I can’t stand when I beat myself, I get mad (at myself).

I'm hoping MissSt takes them to 8+ overtimes and then their plane gets grounded coming back. We need them in zombie mode when we play them on the 13th.

I think most fans are tired of excuses and moral victory attitudes. Just admit our last 3 hires killed us and we suck. If the apologists would stand down they would realize most are not calling for Pruitt to be fahred. Just be realistic.

I think he has improved and makes some good plays but the things you mentioned here are true and that along with all the other offensive problems are keeping us from having a chance to win games against good teams

Some people criticize almost everything he does and expect him to do a lot with this team, that's not realistic.

Coach worship is ridiculous as well. This guy hasn't done anything, wasn't expected to do anything, and won't do anything this year. Part of the fanbase is in full out pitchforks and torches mode while another part is in full out excuse, coach apologist/worship mode. Chill out and wait till next year.

Many seem to confuse positive thoughts and faith in a coaching staff as coach worship. Its not. Yes there are some who are blind coach worshippers. But I think they are the vast minority. Oh and next year will again be rough. We need to wait until year 3 or possibly 4.
