...guess who has the 2nd-longest winning streak in the Power 5, after national champion LSU?

That's right, the Tennessee Volunteers. Second-longest win streak. In all. Of the Power 5. (tied with Notre Dame).

So awesome that this is going to remain true all the way through the long off-season, and perhaps even further.

How cool would this be...what if LSU loses in week 2 to Texas, and on the same day our lads beat Oklahoma? Then we'll have the longest win streak in the nation. Not likely, perhaps, but not the wildest of bold ideas, either.

Go Vols!

LSU losing to Texas is not very likely at all.

Brace yourself for our win over Oklahoma. Don’t do anything too silly celebrating that win, you need to pace yourself for the big SEC wins this year.

LSU lost all of their impactful players, several assistants, their OC, their DC, their water boy, their shoes, their wallets, and their TV remote.

I wouldn’t expect them to be a guaranteed win over anyone in the Power 5.

They didnt lose their OC. But I agree with you to an extent. Its LSU, they just reload.

This is a weird thing for our fan base to hang our hat on. It’s a participation trophy if there ever was one. The best team we beat was South Carolina....If we played all Sunbelt teams last year we could have gone undefeate...wait, nvm.

That was a really negative post, but the point is valid. Let’s make sure we play our best next season for the entire season, not just against the lesser talented back half of our schedule.

So what was Georgia’s excuse for losing to South Carolina?

Cody, it's not a trophy. And it's not a hat rack.

It's simply a fact. A happy fact, at that.

To prove the point, consider the alternative. Imagine that we'd lost to Indiana in the bowl game. Or to Kentucky on November 9th. Or to South Carolina on October 26th.

If any of those had happened, we wouldn't have the 2nd-longest winning streak in the Power 5. And we'd be in the position of wishing that we HAD won those games, that we DID have a nice winning streak still running.

Life is too short to be Eeyore. Celebrate what's good when you find it. Don't fret it away moaning over an even better past that didn't come. And certainly don't waste it belittling the good you find as "not good enough."

Save your wishes for the future, where they have a chance. In the meantime, enjoy the good wherever you find it in the past.

Go Vols!

not sure where you’ve been the last 13 years, but beating the teams on your schedule is a significant improvement no matter what teams are on the schedule. If we continue to see improvement in players and coaches then we will eventually end up where we all want to be.

Our second longest winning streak isn't that special lol plenty of teams that could easily destroy us with a losing streak.

Step by step. I remember when “fans” didn’t see another win after Chattanooga. Guess when the usuals are mehing dominating SC and making a bowl...much less winning one...that it could be labeled acceptable progress. 😏

Losing to Ga St and BYU was unacceptable and the majority of the fan base had the right to be disappointed.

However, some still try to downplay the success Pruitt has had despite being on a six game winning streak and winning a Bowl game.

It’s still too early to know if Pruitt is the long term answer but right now he’s got us headed into the right direction.

Wasn’t championing the team that lost those first two games...just acknowledging the one that turned it around and provided the best run defense since the Fulmer years. It’s possible to remember while appreciating. Previous coaching regimes (including Fulmer in his last few seasons) couldn’t recover from that broken nose right after the opening round. This team got better as the coaches did.

How come nobody else in the country accomplished the same thing as there are lots of teams that played a weaker schedule to finish. It's a weak argument to say the Vols didn't beat anybody therefore their success was not legit.

I agree.

Let’s not forget Pruitt is still learning to be a HC and walked into a bad roster that Butch left behind.

We all know he’s coached great defenses under Saban and now it’s starting to look that way here.

He’s been making a slate of good moves that EXPERIENCED HC’s should be taking notes. He coached a championship defense outside of Tuscaloosa and did the heavy lifting in establishing one at UGA. He’s his own guy defensively. Saban hasn’t been able to replace him.

And bammers are wanting him back when saban retires. If not sooner

Some. Like at UGA, he wasn’t universally beloved. Could see Mario Cristobal as a hot candidate.
