My company is having a difficult time finding truck drivers right now. Not necessarily a trade but something that still takes a little skill. People can't get the life they want without some effort

A little skill- lulz.

In deed I was. I drive MG.

It was a lulz at PJ. I can promise you he couldn't do it, but yet requires little skill

And you couldn't do my job either. You also misread what I posted and its point

You seriously need to relax a little and quit overreacting to every perceived slight. If I was going to take a shot you'd know it

Lulz yet again.

And I can guarantee I've done your job.

As usual, the point of PJ's post sails clear over your head.

A lot more people can be truck drivers than some other professions. No slight to truck drivers everywhere.

I disagree. I took his post as it was posted. This is a message forum. Maybe he should have been more clear.

There is nothing about driving professionally that requires little skill. You find that most truckers have 4 year degrees from college.

The legalities and testing alone are above any standard than most other proffesions.

Never said there was. Like I said earlier, you should read it again

Notice the word "a" in front of the word "little" and unbunch

My point was that while no skill jobs are being lost there are still some out there it a person puts forth effort

The shortage of truck drivers lays solely at the feet of the federal government.

A truck driver is not a burger flipper . A smart owner operator can knock down 6 figures. A company driver can make $50 -75,000 per year. There are many people with degrees that don't come close to that. The economy is improving, there is a good demand for more trucks now. There is more freight than there are trucks in many areas of the country . When the bottom dropped out of the economy in 2008 the logistics companies took a hard hit. Several companies and owner/operators went out of business.

Indeed, between CSA2010, electronic logs, and the crackdown on driver fitness, the industry is struggling to find drivers who are physically fit and willing to deal with layers and layers of DOT regulations that weren't there 20 years ago.

Electronic logs are a big killer to the business.

All have done nothing but take the professionals out of the industry and make the roads more dangerous. But hey ding dong soccer mom feels something has been done.

Just wIt till next year. All the new laws will go in to place. Look for groceries and goods to go up yet again.

One of the most dangerous laws I know we have is these idiotic states the set the interstate speed limits at 70 for cars and 55 for trucks.

In September they anticipating passing the law that ALL trucks ( new and old) have a government regulated speed limiter on them.
(Was in the bulletin we got from fmsca)

Truck drivers bring some of this on themselves, if they could stick together and strike for a couple if weeks things would change. But they can't.

Shut every truck down in this country for 2 weeks and watch the pandemonium ensue.

I've got jobs open.

Awesome! When can I start? I don't have a a CDL but I can get one. I'm really good at driving though...when I get road rage, I always fantasize running someone off the road! Imagine how easy that would be in a big rig!
