McRae has the highest ceiling of these three purely because of his already above average offensive game and his elite athleticism. If he had Richardson's work ethic/defense he'd be an All-Star caliber player. Best thing is, defense is something that can get better and better or be coached. Pure athleticism, not so much.
That's not to say Richardson isn't athletic, hes an insane athlete (as his dunk the other night shows off) but if Richardson is a 7/10 Athlete McRae is a 9/10 most days, and a 10/10 on days he's playing well, which only a handful of players at each position can say. Could only put one former UT player in the past 10 years ahead of him really, and that's Hopson, who on his lazy days is a better athlete than 90% of the NBA.
Watson is busy making more money with the Magic and Harris is busy being the best player at his position under 25 years old not named Anthony Davis
For the season, he is averaging 12.3 points on 42% shooting. Around 2 assists and 2 turnovers per game. Anybody can get hot for a short stretch, but the long haul stats tell the tale.
In games he has started, he averages 16.4 points on 42% shooting. Around 3 assists and 2 turnovers.
In the last 10 games, points are up to 20.5, but shooting down a touch to 41%. So he shoots a lot to get his points. Assists are up to 4 and I couldn't find the turnovers.
So, just as I posted earlier, he has flashes, but I wouldn't ink him into any all-star games just yet.
Finally, I don't know why anybody thinks they can cherry pick stats in the Internet age. It is just too easy for people to check the stats for themselves and call BS.
"I don't think anyone envisioned him doing this as the youngest player in the NBA," Ryan McDonough, the team's GM, told ESPN.com. "We saw him as a traditional shooting guard. To see him run the pick-and-roll, and make plays at this level -- that has surprised us."
Opposing scouts and coaches whose teams have faced Booker over the last month almost universally rave about him. He is probably already a better point guard than Knight, which is scary, considering the Suns flipped the Lakers' top-three protected pick in a three-team deal for Knight last season during those manic final minutes before the trade deadline.
That has been easier said than done in Phoenix, but the Suns can end this nutty season comfortable with at least one thing: Booker is good, and he's their shooting guard of the future.
We can debate ceiling, but Richardson is going to be a significantly better NBA player than McRae.
Why do people keep saying the bolded? Lol there are a lot of PFs better. Towns, for one, is waaaaay better.
If both reached their 100% max potential, McRae is the better player. Do I think that happens? No. Not for either of them honestly because outside of maybe Tim Duncan and Allen Iverson I'm not sure any player has ever reached their max potential for more than a few individual games or series runs (See Shaq 2001) MJ missed a year of his prime, Lebron missed two rings that he had legit shots at. Curry, according to great shooters statistics, is a year and a half from his prime still, and thats praying to the basketball gods he stays healthy. You just never see basketball players truly reach their max potential for many reasons, coaching, injuries, teammates, etc. Richardson has a better GM to help him, but McRae has a better player in Lebron to help teach him as well.
Jordan will never be as big physically as Josh. Josh can play the 1,2, or 3 . Jordan is a 1, or 2. Josh already is bordering on a elite defender and I'll be a better rebounder because of his size if that enters discussion.
Jordan has always been a streaky shooter. I don't see that changing. How much has he really improved? He got cut by two of the worst teams in basketball. He does have a chance to make a place for himself as a scorer off the bench. Think of Gerald Green of Heat. Josh has a chance to be a starter or major rotation player on a good team. He has gotten better every year. It is hard to see a scenario where Jordan is better based on their skill sets.
McRae certainly can but it was against subs tonight. Last night he played in the 2nd round(Game #1) of the NBA D-League playoff game against his former Vol teammate in Jarnell Stokes & dropped 21 against them in a loss.
Yeah they sat everyone, but he's proven he can shoot and play on both ends. He has a good future for sure
