McRae and Stokes

I was too young to remember Tony White, but from everything I've read an argument could be made to put him ahead of Lofton.

I don't see it. I saw nearly every game Tony White played. He was fun to watch and a bright spot on some mediocre to bad DeVoe teams. He was a volume shooter and could put the ball in the basket, but that was it. Had no basketball savvy, played not a lick of defense, could shoot you out of a game as quickly as shoot you into it. Did not make the players around him better.

Couldn't hold a candle to Chris Lofton.

Len Kosmalski would have to be considered in the Top Ten. He was a three-time All-SEC selection, led the Vols to an SEC championship in 1974 and became a longtime NBA player.

I'd put him in the Top Ten along with Ron Widby, Bernard King, Ernie Grunfeld, Dale Ellis, Reggie Johnson, Tony White Allen Houston, Ron Slay and Chris Lofton.

I think Tobias Harris could have cracked the Top Ten with more games/years under his belt.

So what's with the dislike of Tobias Harris

Not enough time at UT to be an all-time great, although may turn out to be one of the better NBA players from UT. Plus, that was CBP's last year and I think a lot of people have tried to completely forget about that season/team.

There's a new name for me. Good info. Thanks.

Hard to believe I am the only guy on here old enough to remember Boerwinkle.

Not the only one. Boerwinkle was really only dominate as a Senior. A good player for sure but I think he was more successful in the Pros than he was in college.

I know the list of the top 10-20 UT players of all-time comes up periodically on here, but I was wondering if Stokes and/or McRae make any anyone's list.

I think the top 4 are fairly easy: King, Grunfeld, Ellis, and Houston. Probably Lofton to round out the top 5, but some of the old schoolers might put up an argument there. I think Stokes is the 2nd greatest rebounder to ever wear orange and that has to be worth something. I would probably put him in my top 15. McRae is harder to judge, but I think he is probably underrated by most people on this board.

Thoughts?

Stokes yes McRae no and you forgot the 50s and 60s do some research.

No Ron Slay? No way Black is ahead of Slay, who was SEC player of the year if I'm not mistaken. I think Slay may be the most underrated player in UT history by the fans.

I honestly thought I had Slay in there. I'd put him in the elite group.
