"He flew to Texas to meet with some doctors that come highly recommended that deal with the National Football League,” Jones said. “He had a full examination, MRI, all that. After that, they concluded that it’s safe for him to play football and get back on the practice field and start competing. Just seeing the smile on his face and the excitement of his teammates was very, very rewarding.”

Love It

Best news that LaDarrell McNeil, his family and his extended Vol family could have received. After all football is just a game. An important game, but just a game. I know it feels like you have been given your life back.

Good luck with the rest of your career, and here's to no more injuries. GBO!

That's awesome. I loved the longevity of our safety dous and hated he could finish oyt a long career with Randolph. Ease him into that game (since he's not needed) and come Florida the seconfary should be full strength.

Yup, when Butch first talked about the injury I feared that the kids entire football career was over. Things did not look good at that time. Now the kid not only gets a second chance he will be suiting up next week.

This is simply a great day for him, his family, his team and all the Volnation.

So in other words he's fine and its just precautions.... Geez football has gone soft.

He needs to be playing in the Oklahoma game.

Do you think guys like Diug Atkins and Dick Butkus of the old days would be sitting out right now.

These kids are freakin soft....I want guys willing to fight to the death to win.

Sweet. I am happy for him, sure it means a lot to the team to get a senior on defense back. Him getting hurt made our depth completely lacking at safety.

No one, NO ONE, should risk disability for the rest of their lives just to play football. Ultimately, as much as anyone loves it, it is a game.

Neck injuries are notoriously dangerous and can easily paralyze or kill you with a wrong hit.

If you're so willing to have players risk highly dangerous injuries to play, why aren't you breaking your neck (literally) for UT?

Good news for McNeil. Its scary what these guys go through to put on a show for us every Saturday. Hopefully we never hear about this injury again.

Max: you've been hitting the sauce too early or late, let it go.
