When? During the 95 game (led by 16, then got stormed under with 48 straight points), which could be seen as quitting. Or maybe the 2007 game (had the ball with a chance to tie it at 28 all until Arian Fumble fumbled it and they returned it for a two score lead). The other Florida games between those two didn't really present an opportunity to "quit". Unless I missed a year somehow...I guess it remains to be seen. I remember UF players talking about UT quitting during the Fulmer years.

96 we came back (35-0 to 35-29) but not enough.
97 we fought hard but pick 6 cost us, as well as 3rd & Chavis. 33-21.
98 next.
99 Alex Brown gate, but game went to the wire.
00 Gaffney. 27-23
01 next.
02 didn't play well but didn't quit. Fumbled repeatedly, 30-13.
03 road win.
04 home win.
05 lost 16-7, qb controversy before & after. 16-7.
06 led game til we blew it, but didn't quit. 21-20.
Interested to know which games Florida players thought we quit while playing against Florida under Fulmer.
McElwain is a very good coach. I loved his Interview after the loss, no BS and he was still calm and collected with a little humor.
McElwain won the east division and 10 games in year one at Florida. After 1 1/3 seasons, he already has pretty much as wins (14 vs 13) as Dooley had in 3.....is this a serious question?
A LOT of schools (hello Georgia and LSU) are about to have their paradigms of what a successful season is really tested for the first time in a LONG time. They are too spoiled to appreciate what they had....

There will never be a coach in the SEC as inept as Dooley. And, the main reason for that is, there will never be a worse AD than Mike Hamilton. Hamilton single handedly destroyed the men's Athletic Dept and UT is just now beginning to come out of the fog he placed over East Tennessee. And, he did it in a very short period of time.
Good thread with rational responses to an otherwise irrational premise by the OP.
Dooley isn't on the same planet as McElwain. Period.
I'm sure it's been rehashed to death here, but Saturday's game would have been much worse if not for all the drops you guys had in the first half. Shoop figured out Appleby's limitations and made excellent adjustments at the half.
Well....to be fair Hamilton did give us the best years in UT Basketball HISTORY by hiring Bruce Pearl. And then he mucked it up and fired him instead of waiting out the show cause.
