McElroy laid it down on Hurd

I have gotten so tired of people defending Hurd. He's not half the back Kamara is, at least in this system. Hurd has been here longer than Kamara, yet the players voted Kamara as a captain. That tells me something right there.
Do you give a healthy Nick Chubb 22 carries in 4 games? That's what the coaches did with Kamara this year. Then when Hurd got hurt, what happened. Kamara got the ball and he he had over 300 all purpose yards. Yes I know A&M doesn't have the best run defense However, we have played worse defenses with Hurd getting he bulk of the carries, and he never came close to doing anything like that
The bottom line is, Hurd is a "me first player" and he quit on his team. Kamara should have been the starter all along with Kelley at second team.

He's speaking like I would expect an outsider to speak. Says he's quitting because of the last 3 games. If you've followed this situation for longer than a week, you'd know this has been brewing for a very long time. Hurd might be known as a quitter to the outside world, but a lot of Vol fans won't remember him that way.

I'll definitely remember him as a quitter. A guy that walked out on his team when things went wrong

he quit. that is how his career ended. Tyler Bray set records as a QB at TN. But his bad attitude is how I remember him. If Hurd makes the NFL, he will not be playing as a TN player drafter. He will be in the NFL as a TN quitter. garbage.

Well, since it's midseason, I quit VN. I'll show you guys! Everybody sucks but me!! :shaking2:

How'd I do?

The change will get him hit less. I think that blindside at GA changed him. He didn't like the hit and he didn't appear to like that the coaches chewed on him for not seeing the hit coming. He might be fearing for his career longevity.

If he had told Butch he wanted to be a tight end, I think Butch might have said, nope, I got tight end projects, I need you as a running back. He did catch some balls from RB and I think H back iirc

All speculation on my part.

Hurd did generally seem to catch passes thrown to him which is more than you can say for a lot of the receivers - and not talking about bad throws.

“When you run the ball inside and you have one guy breakdown, it doesn’t matter who that one guy is, one guy that doesn’t get his block or whatever, the inside running game isn’t going to be successful. “We’ve just got to continue to get better at the technique stuff.” Cmd

This is what JH + Worley were dealing with. Wonder when someone will figure out how to get the OL in shape.
--

Will be interesting to see how we're able to run in the inside with these remaining games.

And, what does Cmd mean, by we just have to "continue" getting better?

As an example: Alabama keeps getting better -- we keep getting NOT better (beginning with the App State game).

I wonder though, sometimes the guy you're blocking for can make all the difference. Consciously or subconsciously the OLine might fight harder for Kamara or Kelly. If Hurd really did have an attitude, the line maybe was thinking, why should I block for this a**hole. They seemed to come alive and excited to play when Kamara was in against A&M. I know it didn't matter against Bama, but that's understandable. Kelly had 94 yards on 14 carries, and should have gotten more.
Players feed off of each other, and if you have a starter with a negative attitude it will affect the play of others, like it or not.
I wouldn't be surprised to see our running game improve now, and it goes beyond how good or bad the rest of our opponents are. As long as they don't abandon the run like they did against S.C.
Team chemistry means everything, and yes, one player, especially your starting junior running back can affect that chemistry.

Nah it might be worst than that if he doesn't stops his operatives from running their mouths...Said it before and its really this simple...NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENED...Once it became about Jalen Hurd...it was time for him to move on...period...end of story...this is about UT Vols Football TEAM...and once that isn't your perspective as a player you have become a cancer to the team concept and wala....here's the result...

Here's how Jalen will be remembered by most fans,

"man, a few years ago we had this running back.....jalen somethingnother....i can't remember. He was pretty good and was on track to set rushing records at UT but something happened to the kid. He got full of himself and caused some team issues. Anywho....He transfered and it didn't work out there either. Not sure why. But I heard he's back in Jackson working at the Piggley Wiggley."

The problem goes back to parenting if you ask me. I have a child that through her life she has played many team sports. I have seen kids sign up start a team sport and halfway through they want to quit for many different reason and the parents let them in some cases they encourages them out of there own convenience. But as for me and my kid if she signs up for something she will finish it. This shows her two thing one before you commit to something think it through and once you do commit finish it. Sometime your word to do something is all you have.
I agree but in the day of "I've committed to X university" then 3 days later "decommit"??? What do we expect? But I'm with you...quitting is not an option!!!

He was ready to transfer after last season. Butch says he didn't promise any I-formation to him...I don't think I believe him.

I like Butch. But, he actually has proven that his word to the press concerning team issues is not too be trusted. Putting it nicely.
