McCain being more liberal

MCCAIN IS A LIBERAL- I can't believe anyone with any conservative views can see otherwise. He has only supported the war to support his run to the White House. His voting record is left of Ted K and Hillary. His track record is not to cut waste- except he did vote at one time to shut down VA hospitals- which no one could criticize because he was a "hero." I will give him his props as a vet, but to pull that card every single time his voting record in the senate comes up is tiring.
The only argument I see for McCain is- like has already been said- is a vote on degrees of liberal. When Hillary has a more conservative voting record than the republican canidate, there is no true option- liberal, mega liberal, or ultra mega liberal.

I would love to know how you came up with him being more liberal than Kennedy

My opinion is that if Bush had not been so bad of a pres. the Repubs would run away with this election.

November is still 7 months away. Neither Hillary nor Barack are going to be very strong general election candidates. It will depend, of course, on who McCain choses has his running mate, but I see a 40 state blowout by the GOP.

Also, I doubt Algore or Lurch would have been any better than GW.

And you think the country can handle that?

I think we already are handling it. The #'s can be sliced a variety of ways but the presence of illegals is probably a net neutral economic impact.

Certainly some areas bear a larger part of the cost.

In short, we need cheap labor. We crave cheap labor. We can't really round up all the illegals and send them home.

My position is to control immigration; use guest workers and punish rather than banish those that broke immigration law.

I'm not advocating govt benefits for illegals. I'm not advocating we have illegals at all. I'm suggesting we can gain the benefit of the current situation (cheap labor) while minimizing the costs.

I'm confident that either man (McCain or Obama) will be an effective president. It might be blind optimisim, but after this administration, that's all I've got to stay politically sane.

Both appear to have more of a grasp of things than the current man. As a result, I agree with you in principle.

I don't like many of Obama's policy positions though.

I like what Obama has to say alot. However, I'm starting to become weary about how much of his rhetoric he is actually capable of achieveing.

McCain is solid as a rock on military/foriegn policy (good), but weak on economics; which isn't good considering where this country is headed financially.

My hope is for much, much more bi-partisan action. Working together is the only way things are going to change. Both men are capable of this.
