Maybe we need to face some facts.

Our fan base has reacted no differently than any other fan base of a top (previously) program would react after what we have seen our program become.

Put an Ohio State or an Alabama through Dooley, Butch, and our 2017 coaching search clown show and see just how amped their fans would get. We are at our end

This.

Nebraska canned Mike Riley after 3 seasons and a .500 record.

Mentioned Jimbo and Sumlin a second ago.

Bielema wasn't much worse than Jones either.

It's stupid to to think we are the only fan base being unfair to these poor, poor multimillionaire coaches.

Then where are they? Who are they? Why are they all saying no?

I just named one and it's because they're not being asked. Kiffin said in an interview yesterday that Currie didn't want to speak to him

Ok, you guys changed my mind. It's everyone's fault but ours. (eye roll)

There’s not a person alive outside of the city of Knoxville that didn’t think Butch had to go but you’re blaming fans for running him off. And now you’re shocked at the backlash on your thread?

This isn't going to be received well. Most of us don't want to hear it, much less believe it. If we really take that long, hard look in the mirror, though, deep down we'll know it's the truth.

Tennessee is tarnished and we, the fans, are PART of the problem.

We demanded that a Hall of Fame coach with 100 more wins than losses, multiple SEC championship and a national title be fired. We ran a guy out of town who pulled us out of the gutter, led us to back to back 9 win seasons and three straight bowl wins. We rioted to block the hire of a coach who built a program from basically nothing, taking it to multiple bowl wins.

Of course Dave Doeren is the best we can get now. No big name coach wants to come near this job. Would you want to bring yourself and your family into that kind of environment? I sure as hell wouldn't. Not when there are other places offering similar jobs without that toxicity.

Tennessee is tarnished. It's toxic. The athletic department shares some blame. The boosters share some blame. We, the fans, have to accept our share of it too.

Agree that many in this fan base are acting like immature 2 year olds throwing temper tantrums to try to get their way.

The problem is that immature 2 year olds are not yet mature enough to recognize they are immature.

The media folks - those who some believe are their friends love this - it gives them listeners - it fuels their eogs - it makes them feel important.

Tennessee does NOT deserve good things right now. The house needs to be cleaned and that includes some in the fan base. If a hire that some don't like makes them leave that probably is a good thing.

The "fan base" rules.

Fire everyone, but us.

Everyone should be called out for their actions, but us.

Everyone who has the power is stupid, but us.

Everyone is weak, but us.

All of this is so clear, to us.

That is not the point. The point is how it was done - it was done by attacking the character of the man and attacking his family and children.

If you don't think that has played a part in this search, I don't know what to tell you.

This fan base has shown that if they don't like someone they are going to make fools of that person by

- Making signs
- Disrupting other events at UT by acting foolish
- Painting the rock with their hate

This is BULLYING. This is HATE. It is not right.

I am ashamed to call myself a Vol fan right now. I am ashamed to wear orange.

And it has all to do with the idiots in this fan base.

So we should be alright with hiring someone who was accused of a terrible crime?

Who was accused and who accused?

Don't let facts get in the way.

McQueary accused him of knowing. And that's the issue. There are no facts. If you knew for a fact he was innocent, then I get. But you don't

Davenport rejecting the deal offered by Currie to Brohm had nothing to do with the fans.

So you are saying that UT fans that are more than will to shell out 500 to 2000 $$$ for a football weekend in Knoxville and equally willing to spend that much on UT gear to support our university and proud football tradition should settle for being last to Middle in the SEC and being the butt of jokes from the talking heads saying we aren’t good ? Dude pick your head up , stop settling for what we use to be and strive to be back on top again . Better yet don’t let the one that are suppose to be care takers of our university settle for that .

You don't explain how the "fans toxicity" kept us from hiring a good coach instead of Dooley and Botch. Or are you assuming they had crystal balls and could see into the future.

I live in Alabama. You should have heard how bad there fan base treated treated Mike Sula. A Tide Alumnus. Then Rich Rodriguez left them at the Alter. But Mal Moore stayed cool and finally landed Saban in January. The thing to do now is not rush to hire just anyone.

So this is basically another we shouldn't have fired Fulmer argument.
Firing Fulmer is not why we are where we are today.
It is 3 bad hiring decisions and incompetence in the AD. If any one of the last 3 hires included a good coach, no one would be complaining and these fans that you want to bash would be packing the stadium as they always do.

TN football has everything it needs to be a top 10 program (although Currie needs to be gone for that to happen). A good hire and we have every ability to be a top 10 program.
Stop blaming fans for wanting a good coach.

Why do you think being against poor behavior is being against winning? How do you correlate that?

It's not poor behavior. It's actually using our power as the end user... The CONSUMER to demand the product that we invest in. Because you have too much of a loser mentality to realize the fans have the power isn't my problem.
