Maybe a little surprising

Pruitt needs to spend less effort on calling out fans and more on recruiting. He is embarrassing.

Don't think it was wise to be calling out the fans all things considered. Unlike Butch, I believe Jeremy will learn & adapt quickly. In general the fan base is tired & beaten up but not completely checked out. Pruitt needs to win a couple he's not supposed to this year and get TN to a bowl game, if he does that then by all means call out the fan base next year if there is another lackluster showing for the O&W. I don't think that will be the case though.

As far as recruiting, Pruitt's best showing was the early signing period. The success during that period surprised a lot of folks. There seems to be an an ability to get elite athletes on campus, in some cases multiple times but very few are committing. I'm not making any excuses but let's be realistic-he's not even been on the job six months. Give him time to let his staff gel. He's shown he can recruit & he's been very successful at it. Former players speak very highly of him. Don't think this is Derek Dooley 2.0 or Used Car Salesman 2.0. I think Pruitt is legit, we have the right AD in place with strong support up top. We'll be aight!

Go VOLS!!!

Seems to me if they had 10K fans show up to watch a practice (Spring Game) With another new Coach that has never won a single game in the SEC as a head coach. With players he himself has called out as quitters. That would be amazing.

Not like there wasn't many more events going on in state like Bristol, Pigeon Forge Rod Run etc. etc.

If they wanted to pack the house, they could have brought in field trips from high school kids and gave them a very memorable experience. Just my thoughts.

The gruden handle was a jab at all of you morons who thought he was coming because a Beaver and fake big wig in Atlanta said so. Now you're on the Pruit train just like Kiffen, Dooley, and Butch, except he's off to a worse start than all three. And the fact, if true, that he took Easter off is BS, should have been working.

But the truth is he took several weeks away from his duties due to his Bammer loyalties, which should have been red flag #1.
Talking up recruiting and his staff's unparalleled ability, then not performing there is red flag #2.
Calling out fans in a fanbase that had the 3rd largest showing for a spring game in the SEC (after not winning a single SEC game nonetheless) is red flag #3.
Flipping players around from offense to Defense without a plan or continuity (including one who showed out on offense and came here because he was promised to play offense, but was moved to defense) is red flag #4.
A poorer showing than expected in the O&W game by our secondary which is full of talent that needs coaching is red flag #5.
The insistence on using the exact same system as Bama and Georgia (that both are evolving away from) that relies on having superior talent, yet without being able to pull in talent that can line up and compete agains them is red flag #6.
Sounding like a moron in every press conference is red flag #7.
Hiring an assistent solely to interpret what the offense is doing is red flag #8.
Failing to be a leader and take control as a head coach by insisting on staying on the defensive side of the ball and letting the offense do their thing is red flag #10.
Being a supposed defensive guru yet our defense gave up 34 points to a QB that couldn't buy a score for most of the year last year and the worst O-line in school history is red flag #11.

I could go on, but Volnation is the congregating place of the dumbest of what has become the dumbest fanbase in America, so it won't help.

No sense arguing. Pruitt is already Bear Bryant to 80% of the fans. Even though he hasn't won a single game, talks as if he's disabled, and isn't recruiting "gang busters" like all the pundits said he would.

The simple fact is that if he doesn't recruit at an extremely high level here... he will fail. Period. Anyone wish to argue?

We will find out if he can coach AND recruit by the end of February 2019.

If he can do both... he can tell the fans to F-OFF on live TV and nobody will care.

Again, your handle explains your reasoning. I agree there should have been more fans in the stands. He wanted to judge the team's response against a raucous crowd. It was free. Embarrassing is in the eye of the beholder.

He called out the fans that were not in attendance as not helping to create the winning atmosphere he felt needed to be conveyed to the players.

Pruitt is not doing a good job in pushing the Tennessee brand. He is still acting like an OC not a HC. Part of the HC job is selling your school, your vision and your program. He is not doing that.

If he doesn't feel confident that his assistants can carry the coaching load, then he hired the wrong assistants.

The fact that you referred to him a a former OC makes me wonder how you were bright enough to even log onto the internet, much less for you to even try and offer a relevant opinion on here.

You try and say that the people here are dumb (yourself would be included) but then you go on and try and put a lot of stock into the actual orange and white game. On what our defense may look like because of it. You really may be dumb. Actually for anyone to put a lot of stock in a scrimmage the way you did puts you at the top of the dumbest fans anywhere for any team.

May be dumb?? Looks like a sure thing.

I start a thread that I was a little surprised we didn’t get a commit and the thread turns into a ***** fest. Vol fans attacking each other over differences in opinions. SMH!

SOME players quit. He’ll get rid of them and we’ll judge the remainder. Happens every (good) coaching change.

Yep. And several won't be here in the coming months.

Of course he runs with that comment that the team has already quit on him (the same ones that "quit" on Jones) and thats an indictment on him.

Of course he also referred to him as an "OC" so Im not real sure on the education level at this point.

This was his biggest challenge as I saw it coming into the job. I know the had the football pedigree and mentality. I was and am still concerned that he won't make the adjustments needed.

When recruiting for big fish, they don’t bite until it gets late and you reel them in at dark.

Spring game is all about blowing them away with the atmosphere and planting seeds in their mind they want to play there.

Now, yesterday was a good chance to blow away Morris with the support and game day experience.

FSU must be using better bait. Think I saw there have been 4 guys so far that spurned the Vols for them.

Still early but I think Pruitt's ability to recruit has been vastly overrated based on results.

UT's perceived brand right now is the Kiffin, Dooley and Jones era's.

Everything else he is selling is on par with the elite programs in the country. After you pass so many years being irrelevant kids forget what you use to be and see you for what they know. Until he starts that change on Saturday many of them will wait to see.

applause. I was shocked at how bad the 1st team defense looked. On the Dline you have a four star and two 5-star recruits and they were blown up all day on the run game.
