from a friend:

General Neyland's 7 Maxims

1. The team that makes the fewest mistakes will win.

2. Play for and make the breaks and when one comes your way - SCORE.

3. If at first the game - or the breaks - go against you, don't let up... put on more steam.

4. Protect our kickers, our QB, our lead and our ball game.

5. Ball, oskie, cover, block, cut and slice, pursue and gang tackle... for this is the WINNING EDGE.

6. Press the kicking game. Here is where the breaks are made.

7. Carry the fight to our opponent and keep it there for 60 minutes.

Phillip Fulmer’s 7 Maxims

1. The team that makes the fewest mistakes usually beats us.

2. Play for and make the breaks and when one comes your way – for God’s sake get the ball to Eric Berry!

3. If at first the game - or the breaks - go against you, give up; there’s always next year (for me anyway).

4. Protect my endorsements, salary, and bonus by sitting on our lead, no matter how marginal.

5. Ball, oskie, cover, block, cut and slice, pursue and gang tackle... if we practiced this more, I probably wouldn’t panic and choke, but there’s no way to be sure.

6. Press the kicking game. Here is where the breaks are made… If I believed this, I’d hire a special teams coach.

7. Carry my pizza to my office door and it better be here in 30 minutes!

Meh. Except for number 6. Our lack of a special teams coach is probably the one thing I could stand people complaining endlessly about.

Can someone please sneak in while Chavis is napping and tatoo this on his forehead? The fact that he didn't is EXACTLY what beat UT last Monday.

You can't tattoo a brick. The needle will break and it won't hold ink.

Like Milohimself, I can put up with all the negativism many of this group thrive on when it comes to the need for a Special Teams Coach.

Over the years, we have lost the UT Neyland Syndrome. That syndrome is the KICKING GAME and we need it back.

So, y'all can bitch about the need for a Special Teams Coach till the Orange Blush fades off your cheeks and I'll listen in agreement.:)

I can't believe that one guy hasn't read this and said this yet. Apparently, in college football, you are limited to a specific number of coaches and we would have to give up a position coach in order to accomplish this. If 1/3 of the game of football is special teams, I could see us doing this. What coach do you think we could afford to spare?

I was referring to "got twelve?"

Six consensus National Championships and six that were recognized by a local laundry mat,Tuscaloosa Quarterback Club, Joe Namath foundation,Alabama Sports magazine, University of Alabama Athletic Director, and Kenny Stabler (in an interview while he was drunk). The # of Championships grows every year. Every time USC or ND gets a national championship, Alabama sneaks a ficticious one in to keep up.
