Max Gilbert has issues

Dealing with pressure and executing in clutch moments. The OU kicker was on point and stepped up to the plate when he was needed. He kept OU in the game and helped them salvage drives when their offense wasn’t performing. Then when the offense came alive for OU they were able to score and fall back in the field goals he delivered.

Dude was hitting 55 yarders like it was nothing.

That’s what we need. A clutch kicker who can get us points when our offense sputters. Even if they are long FGs.

He wasn't hitting 55 yards like it was nothing. It barely cleared the crossbar however he maximized his talent with perfect fundamentals.

Why was last night’s missed FG a missed “clutch moment” kick? It was in the first half. It was just a missed FG. That happens. The miss against Georgia, yes. That was a missed pressure kick. But it’s ridiculous to call every kick a “clutch moment” kick.

But if you want to do that and call them ALL clutch, then he’s hit a higher % of clutch kicks in UT history…

There wasn’t a ton of pressure on the kick Gilbert missed so I don’t think he missed due to too much pressure. For the OU kicker, I wouldn’t say he hit 55s like it was nothing. They barely scraped over but kudos to that kid for making them. It’s tough to see our dude miss a kick he should make while their kicker is nailing FGs no one would think twice about if he missed.

That massive bumble by the offense at the end of regulation against Georgia that contributed to his big miss probably still lives rent-free in his head. He will have to shake it somehow. Winners worry only about what must be done and figure out ways to win. Losers worry about what can go wrong and, hence, figure out ways to lose. We’re still stuck in the latter category at the moment. Gilbert is likely just a product of that.

Lots of teams don't have this. What we need is a QB that doesn't turn the ball over 3 times in critical moments.
Joey was due for a bad game and he shoulders his blame but if Max could have hit the Georgia FG then we are still in playoff contention. We have a kicker problem.

the OU Kicker had a whole diff look in his eyes than Max. You could see it.

Max looks like he rather be anywhere else and scared shitless
Get him out the game. This is a hard lesson many young ppl have to learn. Life brings pressure but you must keep doing what you’ve been doing that got you to the success you have. Thats it.

Bc the Georgia game FG miss was a clutch moment and had we hit that then last nights loss would still suck but wouldn’t be as bad. We would have 2 losses instead of 3.

Someone needs to get Gilbert a pair of hot pants!

What I learned last night is that's apparently the key to the kicking game. Who knew?

Let's bring this guy in as an Analyst for Special Teams next year!

Max looks scared to death to be on the field while UO’s kicker wanted to be there and was confident in what he could do. Like Max Gilbert or not as a person I am not sure he handles the pressure of kicking at this level

Come on now! The kid has been pretty good. Yes he missed a few big kicks, but he is talented. Yes he needs a little edge to him. Maybe if he had a coach instill that into him he might come out with a little swagger.

He didn’t cost us ANY games. Could he have one a couple? ABSOLUTELY! But so could have many other aspects of the games.
cant even trust him from 35-42 lmao
