Maurice Couch looked much better today

Couch hasn't been on campus for very long, has had a leg injury of some sort that hampered him, and there are quotes out there about him not being able to finish some of the workouts due to conditioning (mighta been a quote from Malik? Not sure).

Anybody trying to blame this on McKeefery (sp?) is disqualified from sitting at the adult table from here on out.

He'll get there and has some time to do it.

All of this is accurate. Malik mentioned in Media Days that Couch was working hard, but did not have the conditioning to finish the conditioning work CRM was having them do, but was constantly improving. He' just never had to work at that level and his body had to adjust.

This is so incredibly normal for Lineman moving into D-1 from anywhere, its a non-factor this early in the practice time.

Is he going to be the starting Nose tackle? Also, why only 3-4 snaps at a time?

I read somewhere that he'll play the 3 technique which is Malik's position. I'm guessing we'll see him at DT spelling Malik and with Malik where Malik slides to DE. That would be a large line in run situations.

Really? You have to question his work ethic. this is a major buzz kill, it's not like he didn't know he was expected to contribute... But regardless, I'll stand behind you Mo...

Really man...chill out guy...he be fine here in the next few weeks.

Ask other teams that are not use to this heat, how much difference it makes

You need to open your eye and hear what I'm tryin to say

You're right on the money. Physiologically, the body has to adjust. That takes a couple weeks sometimes.

thanks LV great news to hear - easy to fix conditioning, not easy to fix a lack of talent/size

Just wanted to say that Couch has looked better and better each day so far. He is starting to get in the groove.

Dt's shouldn't yave tgo run more than 3 or 4 plays at a time. The big dogs in the SEC can sub every 3 or 4 plays so if we got the depth to do that I'm all for it.

i really think our 2 deep of Malik, Hood, Couch, and Miller could be decent. not great by any means, but adequate which would mean it's alot better than last year's.

i don't think you will see much of Malik at DE, if at all. he has not run at DE any in practice that i know of.

i think they see Couch, right now, as the backup NT to Hood.

NT? We running a 3-4?

Some 4-3 defenses don't really differentiate between their DTs and some (like ours) do. We typically have one DT that we call a nose, and the other plays a 3 technique. The nose is usually the bigger one.

and plays a one technique. However, I do believe there is some 3 down lineman schemes coming from wilcox.
