Sorry, but I don't believe in blaming the temparture...

Yeah, but it's gonna most impact the heaviest guys that don't spread the weight over as much frame ... in other words, the Couches, the Tugboats, etc.

He's got a month; he'll progress. :zeitung_lesen:

he is a little out of shape, no doubt about it. but he is a player.

fortunately, he won't be playing more than 3 or 4 consecutive snaps at a time so he should be fine.

Hopefully he makes the most out of those 3-4 snaps at a time. Sometimes that's all it takes to disrupt an offense.

Dt's shouldn't yave tgo run more than 3 or 4 plays at a time. The big dogs in the SEC can sub every 3 or 4 plays so if we got the depth to do that I'm all for it.

b/c you don't know if you are in shape or not until it's too late.... i'm sure he was running, etc. just not used to SEC style football. He'll be fine! dang, almost as if we don't know what to do with ourselves if we don't have something to freak out about!

This. I don't think he's even been in Knoxville much over a month. Based on his Twitter, he's a motivated individual. I think its just a matter of time before he comes along.

He would be winded if he was going through camp with Duke or any D1 school it has nothing to do with the SEC. There are schools that work every bit as hard as any SEC school. Talent & coaching tend to make the SEC what it is.

Ask other teams that are not use to this heat, how much difference it makes

You need to open your eye and hear what I'm tryin to say

Listen here bats***, I've been working up in a loft of a cabin built in 1830 all week! Don't talk to me about heat, Pale guy!

You're not the one out there in the heat so your view doesn't count. Just yesterday 2 football players and a coach died from the heat and a pro football player had a convulsion possibly due to dehydration induced by the heat. So until you're out there doing what our players are doing in that heat, no one should listen to you.

Really all depends on where he was training before moving to Knoxville. If he was back home in Orlando, then no weather excuse accepted. If from juco in Kansas, then he gets 3 weeks to adjust to the increased humidity. Plus he is a flatlander. Hills at UTK are killers when flat is all you have been around. Does not get any more flat than kansas and florida!

Regardless, CRM will have him ready by first kickoff!

I think you will see couch getting better as the season goes on. He has only spent a few weeks in a true conditioning program. I am just hoping him and hood can be a good rotation and eventually Couch takes more and more snaps

What's the NCAA rule for interaction between coaches and players during the summer? When I played...I know, it was a long, long time ago...the coaches could not be present when we were working out during the summer, even if we were on campus and taking summer classes. Perhaps Mo was unable to work during the offseason with the S & C coach.

If that's the case, it's a non-issue. On their own, most kids will not come close to the type of workout they will experience in-season.

If it's not the case, ignore me and move on to the next post...

Being in football shape comes from playing football. Seeing as that's what he's going to be doing for the next month, I think he should be fine come kickoff.

Couch hasn't been on campus for very long, has had a leg injury of some sort that hampered him, and there are quotes out there about him not being able to finish some of the workouts due to conditioning (mighta been a quote from Malik? Not sure).

Anybody trying to blame this on McKeefery (sp?) is disqualified from sitting at the adult table from here on out.

He'll get there and has some time to do it.

The heat should not be an excuse. DD admitted that. It can be managed. Next, somebody will suggest eliminating the kick off. Demand everyone practice in AC. Maybe they should just play flag football.

Mo will be fine. He will have a chance to get in shape before the first game.
