Maurer is going to be a great qb, I hope it is here. I agree with others he is not ready right now, but who knows by this fall?

If JG is going to take ANY steps forward it will be sort of like Crompton under Kiffin/Chaney...salvageable with solid WRs.

That also happened at the end of the first half of the Ky game and in that one he hit the 50 yard TD.

The sacks thing is a little bogus. On 3 of the sacks he was never touched and took off running but the coaches blew the whistle because it counted as a sack when the OL whiffed. The only time they let the QB scramble count was when they were outside the pocket and there was no DL close to them.

JG waits too long to decide to make passes but to his credit, he throws few interceptions
I hate having a game winning drive & QB ends game on interception
At least JG doesn’t cost us games via interceptions

I'll go on record and say that he's likely a backup his entire time in Knoxville. I love how the JG haters love the backups no matter how many interceptions they throw or how many snaps they fumble away. If he starts then the Vols are in big trouble both this year and the next.

You have Never seen Maurer play against another college.team but yet you say he is way better! Playing against 2nd and 3rd teamers and some walkons against a base defence might be Just a little different .

The real question is when will Dormady take the job from Dobbs? Then when will Jones take the job from Dormady? I'm hearing he's more mobile than Dormady and is a real competitor.

I'm not the OP, but I did consider Chryst the better QB. I still think if we had stuck with him we'd have won more games. He was a better decision-maker. For whatever reason, the OL seemed to block better with Chryst at QB. In general, his passes were better thrown and quite accurate. He sold the fake run better. I always felt Pruitt felt a need to appease JG because Chryst was gone after one year. Having a happy (or confident) JG was vital for this year's team so Chryst was yo-yoed. That being said, I return to my pro-JG mode.

Winning games is not important. Its arm talent..completion %, and low td/int ratio. If those are good everyone else can be blamed for losses
