Maurer starting Saturday?

I feel the exact same about the coach, but am told that we are nowhere close to knowing. I'm so confused by your assertion.

All I am saying is that JG is pretty simple in terms of what to expect from him production wise. He's also limited with not being a mobile threat.

With that said, we have no idea what to expect from Maurer or even Shrout. Maurer more so because he is the most mobile qb on the roster. I'd rather roll with the guy who has tons of future games left than someone who is on the near end of their career. Especially knowing what is likely to happen everytime they step out on the field.

Nobody's going to take a crack at this? Guess I'll resist, butt dam.

Maurer has not started the first game. Meaning he has not been prepared to come in the game. No snaps with first string at all in practice unless it has been the last two weeks. If given the preparation time jg has got in practice this year Maurer would be much better than what he is now. We know what we have with jg, he can't lead the team to score. Give the others a chance with game preparation and see what they can do. If we continue with jg, we might win 1 more game, and that is a big ?? on that.So do you continue with what you know is not working or make a change and see what happens.

Again...not my point. I’m told we can’t know what the coach can do in two years, but apparently, it’s different with a QB. (I totally agree with your point in JG...and thought the same long ago.)

I’m excited to know that you think we can make that assessment of the coach somewhere between 16 and 24 games. Really excited.

I saw enough from the 2 series against UF last week to remove all doubt about who the starting QB should be imo. That kid had the whole team fired up and ready. Yes he threw a pick, but that’s gonna happen.

All good qb will throw int. A ration of 2 td per pic is good enough to win most games. Especially if the qb has a good understanding of field position and where the int occurs. In many cases a long pass that is int. is just as good as a punt. A qb that has very few int. is only throwing to wide open receivers and not taking any chances in a small window. We have to score to win, and jg has proven time and time again, we cannot socre enough with him as qb

Agree 100% and on top of that, Maurer led our only scoring drive against UF and he wasn’t afraid to throw to receivers who were somewhat covered one on one. Throw to Jennings all day long in one on one coverage and let him snag it.

So... the never-be-happy-with-the-Vols-again mob is actually warming up to the notion that the remainder of the season should be used to give the new kids the opportunity to grow with game-time experience... Whoda thunkit.

You know, the coaches can always trot out the Jones recruits if/when the new kids are in jeopardy of developing bad habits or getting their heads screwed up.

Sacrifice the present for the future! It's like everyone has a parent's perspective...

Well JG has 3 years of games and 22-25 games. Pruitt is only 16 games in

22-25>16 lol

Don't you understand by now that Boro just wants to be able to hate Pruitt in peace, without dissent?

Oh no. @'Boro-vol isn't a hater. He has a right to be skeptical. Sure the record doesn't match what any of us want. I think the patience / pain tolerance is what everyone disagrees with because its different and wide for a lot of folks here.

By the way, you live in DC?

This board sounds like the board sounded when Peterman was to start against Florida....
Steve Spurrier would’ve yanked Garauntano 3 games ago to the 3rd string spot with his performances. Find the guy that gives you the best shot to win not the guy that gives you the most opportunity to lose.

Yes you can expect 65 % a 2/1 to 3/1 TD/Int ratio and about 8 ypa.

I hope Maurer can be better than that or even close.

Did. Am back and forth alot though.

Why not? If we're going to lose, let's at least lose with youth and inexperience. Oh and with a QB that shows enthusiasm and act like he wants to be out there.

Left out a 7-15 record as a starter too.
BM was 2-8 last year. Seems much worse that 7-15.

So a guy who hasn't prove he can even be as good and couldn't even win as good a percentage in high school would have better record?

So I guess if he starts and we lose we can point to his winless record? It is all on the qB right? So 2-9 in his last 11 starts.

BM hasn't shown anything yet. I hope he does great and shows he is a viable SEC qb.

So you think comparing High school record as a starter is equal to college record as a starter?

You have no argument that is valid to make with that comment. Wow
