Maurer starting Saturday?

I'm all for Maurer and Shrout getting a shot and then figure out who gives you the best chance in the winnable games.

Being an alpha at QB is fine. As long as he can play the spot. Hes yet to prove that.

I agree. They should be given shots to prove what they are made of.

I just have never bought into the narrative that you "ruin" a QB by starting him against good teams. We dont even have a start at this point. Let alone a backup. Unfortunately Pruitt squandered any chance he had to figure that out against Ga State and BYU by completely muffing our season to begin with. So now we have to do that against Georgia and Bama.

The gay dude?

He never did anything in the pros.

Who cares. We aren't talking the pros. He was SEC defensive player of the year in 2013. You asked to name one person off that defensive line. We did.

Point is, that pressure didn't ruin Dobbs on the road and it wont ruin Maurer at home to start against them.

Why? You think we have any shot to win this game? I hope not.

I cant say that I do either.

The position is viewed different today than a month ago.

Had JG been decent and we were 3-1, we re not talking about getting either Fr reps right now. And we shouldnt be.

I dont think the outcome Saturday is in jeopardy either way so I'm not concerned who starts. But unless the bye week has made a big difference for JG, Maurer needs reps for the rest of the schedule.

Haha. No. Obviously not. I just explained why I thought that.

We should have done this against Ga state and BYU but our coach is a moron. Now we need a new QB and have to figure out what we have against teams that are difficult to do that against.

You don't know that. You have no clue the mental toughness of Maurer compared to Dobbs. Also, Dobbs had a great oline his freshman year with Antonio Richardson and Zach Fulton.

Exactly. Maurer needs to get some reps so maybe there is a snow balls chance in hell that we can pull off 2 maybe 3 more wins. Vandy, Miss state and UAB are probably winnable if we have even a slightly average QB.

Our O line hasn't played too bad this season actually. It's not some solid wall of meat, but its absolutely better than last season. I credit Chaney for that.

Maurer should get his chance, we don't stand a chance at winning, so even if he misses a few things, he'll be learning his job, and we can expect a good QB in the future. If he can do a half way decent job against UGA, he'll be showing the world what he's made of-it's a tough way to start the kid out, but I think he'll do fine, and maybe he'll connect a few passes past 12 yards, something we have not seen from JG. JG or Maurer, I got GA, TN does not cover.

Jesus.. Georgia is not a team that you get "reps" with. You get "reps" against UAB. Not Georgia.

If he gets injured I don't wanna hear crap from y'all. You wanted this.

They got embarrassed by the GA State line on both sides of the ball. They've been pretty pathetic. Hell, have we started two games in a row with the same starting 5 oline? I don't think so, they're changing again this week l.

Haha. That's life now bud.

Have you looked around the past few weeks?

We aren't exactly doing things by the book around here these days. We look like a bad highschool team out there most games. We haven't scored a TD against UGA In our own stadium since 2015.

They have improved since Ga state. They look better than they did. Like I clarified in my last comment, they aren't a road grater. But they aren't as bad as last season either.

And we likely won't again. If Florida can keep us without a TD, GA may keep us without a first down
