Maurer starting Saturday?

This board sounds like the board sounded when Peterman was to start against Florida....

I just hope it doesn't sound like that message board after Peterman's glorious first half come Saturday......

If Mauer does even half as bad as Peterman's first start, we need to install JJ and the wishbone for the remainder of the season.

Double-edged sword. Play Maurer and Shrout against the UGA, Miss. St., and Bama gauntlet, and you risk (a) injury, or (b) seriously damaged confidence. OTOH, start with JG and you already know the result. Good or decent personal stats, low or no points, and another loss.

UGA and Bama are "bet your house" losses. But a good place to learn what it takes to compete in the SEC.

Winston Churchill said "What must be done eventually should be done immediately." He was a lot wiser than me, so...make the change.

I'll take a 5% chance over no chance. And I would dearly love to be on here Sunday afternoon chewing on a big 'ole CrowBurger if they pull off the upset.

Go Vols.

If Mauer is the starter, they better keep it relatively simple. Just a handful of plays or so that he knows really well with maybe some different alignments to disguise them slightly. If he's doing well, maybe add in another play or two that he expects to see. It would be nice for UT to have a QB come out and look like a world beater for a change.

I'd love to see him or Shrout start. I just hope everyone understands he'll make some mistakes and it could get ugly. It's an investment in the back half of the season, imho.

No doubt. I'll just be happy to see a screen pass delivered at a speed below 150mph, and perhaps a receiver who runs INTO the pass, and not BACK to the pass.

JG is a good kid who joined a bad situation. Sadly, it seems to have demolished him as a QB. I'll be happy to see a change at QB, and still wish JG the best.

Perhaps if CBJ ends up at Rutgers JG should go home for his final year. Not being snarky at all, it could be a chance to rehabilitate his confidence and ability.

The difference is JG has had the leash for 3 years and done nothing with it, eventually that situation ended up with another backup taking the starting roll. Might be the same here, Shrout may end up being the man. The one thing we do know is, JG isn't.

If so then why has JG been taking 1st team reps all week? Just in the media sessions maybe? Either way I'm for it.
