Maurer/injury

My guess, he aggravated a previous injury. For me, I thought the writing was on the wall, he shouldn't have played this game. Not sure I would play him against SC, but then...geeze, you almost have to. We need him in a bad way down the final stretch

My husband on the other hand, seems to think he's a QB that could be great, but has a tendency to be soft. Gave me some comparisons to kids on my youngest sons' football team.

At this point, I don't agree with my husband, time will tell.

There's not much S&C work you can do for concussions. On the first one, he needed to slide and he's he fine. The second one was a late hit.

I don't blame Pruitt for telling Maurer to get his a$$ into the locker room. I will show my age here and perhaps get flamed, but:

There is a difference between being HURT and INJURED. BM needs to learn the difference, and the team could have really used him last night. Yes, he got hit hard, but the fact was that he was not injured and then asked to play again. If your not injured, don't lay prostrate on the field. Of course the medical team will jump into action and you will be sent to the showers,....for safety reasons.

I'm concerned that BM, while good, is a touch unreliable.

Im really confused as to how he went back out there before "going down" but when it comes to concussions Im not going to ever say that.

They take head and neck injuries very seriously these days. To err on the side of caution is not a bad thing in this sport.

Concussions are funny that way. A lot of times it doesnt look that bad. That's why so many guys played with concussions in past years
I would equate it to the Dale Earnhardt Sr wreck that killed him. It just didn't look that bad compared to other hits we've seen. To his credit, JG has taken some wicked hits. As far as I know, he hasn't been plagued with concussions.

I've been pleased with Maurer and am excited by the way he plays. But I'm concerned he's one of those people who are just susceptible to concussions. That would be a shame.

Both plays that Maurer left the game from were what is called “getting your bell rung”, if Maurer wants to play football at any level he needs to be able to hop back up from plays like that. Speaking from experience, the daze only lasts for a few minutes.

He’s obviously our best QB, makes plays, not afraid, players love him. But, is he too fragile? Two games, two injuries, doesn’t finish the either game, maybe out next week. I really like him but...
He is a high school kid, he will get better and learn how to take a hit in the SEC!

That was a nasty hit against Wright's leg to an already tender head and neck area.

I think he will be ok but he may not play next week.

Or maybe CJP didn't want to chance it. Either way they erred on the side of caution which is fine.

Maurer playing the whole game with Tua out would have made this a very interesting game though!
would he have been injured if there hadn’t been a possible late hit from the defense?

Any team with a lot of talent can afford to lose a player for targeting if it knocks a QB out if the game.

We've done anything but err on the side of caution. This is the third straight Saturday he's suffered either a concussion or unconsciousness. Should not have played either yesterday or last week.
