Maurer’s Instagram Post

Some would say he played bad at KY. But if CJP treated players the same then JG wouldnt have seen the fields after VAndy and after his 1st half in the bowl game...which is funny because JG was 11-20 130 and int at the half vs IU and stayed. But BM goes 50% 120 total yards and no TO and gets pulled vs KY

It obviously an choice by CJP to give JG a longer leash. Is that fair???
Maurer was pulled from Ky game because he failed to hand the ball off on RPO that the run was set up big and he tried to force a pass. JG down the stretch had the 7th best QBR so his experience is why they went back to him.

There is no doubt that BM made plenty of freshman mistakes but JG also made those same mistakes as a RSJ. The spring will be huge who gets to starts next fall.
Can BM learn from his mistakes and not turn the ball over?
Is HB going to show up on campus and be ready to start or does he go through the same growing pains BM did?
Can JG finally turn the corner and be the consistent QB he has shown flashes of?

Brian has some real talent. Arm strength to make attractive the throws ability to escape pocket and hurt defense with the run. He was a true freshman filling his way through the best football in college and sustained 2 injuries. I look forward to seeing him compete for the starting job. If he was to leave I would wish him well at his next school.

Neither are stellar....that's not the point.

It's about who protects the ball better and who sucks less.

Look.

We dont have a good QB on campus today.

We all hope that will be different in the fall.

But I'll bet you $100,000 to a jelly glazed doughnut that if HB comes in, wins the job and is responsible for 3 T.O.s you idiots will be calling for his head too.

We are not good enough to overcome turnovers in most instances and ESPECIALLY against the better teams we play . CJP is smart enough to realize that and as long as that is the case he will always play the guy who throws it to the other team less frequently.

I believe to many fans believe HB is just going to come here and dominate just like Fromm Lawrence. I hope he does we will see. But yes BM also has a chance to be a really good QB. Looking forward to having a full QB room even if it's just spring practice.

I hope he stays as well but it wouldn’t surprise me if Kiffin isn’t already in his ear. Kiffin recruited him heavily out of high school and we all know he would use the negativity against us.

If he does leave we will be in the same situation next year if JG struggles by having to play a true freshman that may or may not be ready for SEC play.

So let me ask you a question. If you have a quarterback that turn the ball over 10 times leading to the opposition scoring 30 plus points. While the other one turned it over half as much and lead to 3 points. Which would you say protected the ball better??

Wonder what Fields at Ohio St. would say about that, or Burrows at Lsu. Neither were given a chance where they transferred from. Lots of good coaches appear to not be very good at evaluating qb talent. Trask at Fla. only playing because of injury. You can't expect any qb to be thrown in a game with just limited preparation time for the game and expect them to do well. No qb on ut roster were given a real chance to succeed except jg. Maurer comes in last night, led the team to a fg, on his only series and gets pulled.
Nate Peterman's transfer enables him to earn $645,000/year

Maurer only threw 7 passes vs Mississippi State and 2 of them were intercepted. That will get a QB benched. Maurer was 7/16 vs Kentucky. The poster I was responding to said that Pruitt had shown no inclination to play anyone but Guarantano, which isn't true. Maurer played... and he was inconsistent.

REPEAT : Against UK, BM should have been 11-16 at half - 4 drops and a perfect hail Mary. Sure looked bad on stat sheet- but kid had a great 2nd quarter. Not sure why he did not see the field vs. VANDY - JG was 1-8 in Q1 and 3-13 for first half against worst defense in league. How do you explain that to BM? Maybe it was too close to signing date to have freshman QB light up the scoreboard...

I wish more people on here that the capacity to see beyond final stats. Lol. And also take into account your comparing a 4 year player to a True freshman. Lol

How many points did those 2 ints give MSU???

Answer 0

How points did JGs give IU?

Answer 10.

Which had a bigger impact???

Neithet is good period tho

Yet time and time again Pruitt had to rely on JG. Regardless who wants to believe it or not, JG was the best QB we had. And he deserves credit for our 8 win season.
He was the best and got the most chances. JT should have gotten more run

Which QB has more INTs than TDs?

Which QB led us to an 8 win season?

Which QB had to come in and beat IU?

Whose INT cost more points???

Who is the f'n RSJR with 10 plus starts under his belt????

Come i know the education system is bad but this is sad..

According to fans? Yes I guess the coaches shoukd consult the fans. Even JJ has said JG gave us the best chance to win. Shrout showed a little flash but not much else. Why couldnt Shrout win the starting job? Based on the practice reports, JG consistently bettered BM and JT.

Cannot answer my questions so resort to fallacies? Figures.

JG had the opportunities because he proved he deserved them.

JGs INTs definitely cost points. He was the main QB.

JG is the RS JR that has earned his starts and also the one that led us to 8 wins.

They both said it. Announcers all talked about it during several games. They talk with coaches during the week to have things to say on air. One topic has been the team's faith in JG and the team and coaches faith in him being the best chance to win.
