Tennessee secured a commitment over the weekend from ESPNU 150 Watch List wide receiver Matt Milton of Mascoutah, Ill. Milton spoke with the Sports Animal about his recent decision. Here are a few of his comments.
What he likes most about Tennessee...
"I like the coaches. I can talk to them all day. It's just comfortable sitting down there and talking to them. The program, Tennessee has great tradition. The program is coming back. The offense they run -- pretty much the whole football aspect and how serious football is in Knoxville is a big deal in Tennessee."
Thoughts on the chance to play for a program running an offense that will focus on utilizing big receivers....
"Yeah, that was a big deal with me the way that they use the big receivers in the passing game and coach Kiffin used the offense at USC. They showed us some of the cut ups of Dwayne Jarrett and Mike Williams and how they would use me in the X spot. It just looks perfect. I fit perfect. I'm around the same size as those guys. It just fit."
Milton said it's been tough to narrow down his decision, but he's happy to have the process behind him so he can focus on football and not recruiting. He hopes to be a mid-year graduate.
Other comments:
·Milton acknowledged that the competition in the SEC is faster and tougher than most conferences but he's up to the challenge.
·As of now, he doesn't plan to take any more visits.
·As a junior, Milton caught 40 passes and hopes to improve on that this season.
