Matt Campbell beat Butch

His 9.5 million buyout will average out in 3 years if we are paying him 2-3 million less, than what a "big name" coach is going to get here, who we realistically aren't getting anyway. UT can make the numbers work if they want to.

He making himself some Money.

Question is who will be signing his checks. Great scene after yet another upset. Guy looked very happy. He's got it going at Iowa st. Never know....he might be content and have a home there for the long haul. I'd be tickled to have him at UT. Same for Fuente and frost. Any of those guys would be great.

Like the look of his staff a lot too. Apparently they recruit pretty well for Toledo/ISU.

I think it's more a case of a coaching staff recognizing talent and potential and being able to coach, teach and develop players. They looked blue collar, hard working and they did all the little things right. Details...they had em covered and taken care of. Great job by the team and coaches. We'd be damned lucky to get this guy.

They had the top rated MAC recruiting class his last two years at Toledo. His first year at ISU was their best recruiting class since 2002 based on Rivals rankings.

The guy came out off "the cradel" and is making a name for himself at Iowa State. During the third quarter the trivia question was how many national championship coaches have taken the same path as Campbell, and it was a ridiculous list. Names that were football legends before Majors, but then names like Majors, Pete Carol, Saban, Gene Chizik, and at least 3-4 more.

Turns out that winning 3 national championships is better than cleaning jock straps for Tampa Bay and playing trombone in the band.

I don't care what it costs, we should get this guy. Has more too 5 wins this year then we have had in more than a decade. And he is doing it at Iowa State, which is easily the second hardest job to win at in the big 12.

Pitt won a national championship by hiring an up and coming coach from Iowa State. He then came to Tennessee and rebuilt our program.

Yes, yes, yes. We know, but every up and comer won't do the same, ever assistant coach won't be good. Everyone who sucked in the NFL won't be like saben, or spurrier. Every former player won't be a good coach. This reference gets old

Carroll was a poor nfl coach before USC

Saban was an atrocious DC at the Cleveland Browns.

Carroll was 33-31 in the NFL before USC with 2 playoff teams out of 4 years. How is that poor?

Saban was close to .500 in the NFL.

Kiffin won 25% of his games in the NFL.

On what planet are they even remotely comparable?
