Just a life long Vol fan that has thrown away my orange tinted goggles.
The program would be in better shape if more fans ditched theirs also.
Football is entertainment for the unwashed masses. It ain't rocket surgery.
A football resume would look like what ? Even coaches only stand on their W/L record.
As a Tennessee fan my record would not be good.
Everyone has an opinion and like butt holes everybody else's stink.
I have donated and spent enough money on Vol football to have my opinion.
Rocket surgery....Is that like brain science?

Maybe OUR best.
Not good.
Certainly not elite.
Bottom tier SEC .
Were you drunk the whole season?
I was awake enough to see ONE win against a team with a winning conference record, we were fortunate to beat Kentucky.
I was awake enough to see every QB with legs run wild straight up the middle against our DL.
I was awake enough to notice our DL could not pressure a QB.
I was awake enough to see our DL on the verge of giving up toward the end of games.
I was awake enough to notice the DL did not impose their will on any team with a pulse.
IS that his gault or the ass holes that recruited before them ? They have been here exactly 1 year. They also have a winning record with little talent compared to UGA, Bama, Ole Miss, UF, A&M yet you expect wins ? This is a rebuild make no mistake. We have some pieces of the puzzle. But your take imo is doom and gloom. The fact we were in some of these games until late with teams that were simply better than us inspires hope. We need depth and stability then and only then will we begin to truly crawl out of the abyss

We were among the league leaders in sacks and TFLs for much of the season. I seriously question whether you watched any games this year.

Yes Bama and UGA pushed us around. That's Bama and UGA though. Considering the actual talent on the DL last year, what CRG was able to pull off was just short of a miracle. Also, QBs killing us up the middle was a combination of scheming and poor LB play. Not the DL.

CRG did a heck of a job with the talent and numbers we had this year. We knew we were behind the 8 ball on D-line this year with the offense we run. We definitely need improvement along the d-line and the defense overall. I think we will continue to improve there maybe not so much this year but in the next couple years once the big time recruits seriously start to look at the Vols.

I'm not blind, I see we need defense to win these games. But what was done in the past season gives a solid foundation to what Heupel and staff want to create. Kid's can see that, fans can see it.... Except the few who countinue to sh1t on everything the past 13 months has provided. We ALL want to win, staff, players and fans. What we need to do is support this program and staff, players. I believe these guys will get there.

Our game plan will only work if we score TDs on every possession.
Then 2 or three stops per game will beat anyone.
Until both happen, we can continue to stomp the cupcakes and bottom feeders and get stomped by the big boys. A winning SEC record is not likely anytime soon. SEC level DCs will soon slow down our offense. Could be a bust at QB that does it. Or an injury.
Ask the Bulldogs, defense still wins championships.
Lol we were one bad call from a winning SEC record in year 1. Just stop

Butler had 5.5 sacks and 8.5 TFL's with 8 QBH... along with 49 tackles. That's a pretty damn good year. If you had that production at the other Dtackle position you would have an elite Dline. Unfortunately we were hamstrung by a rotation by committee at that position.

You mean the DL that got man handled by every team we played this year that was not
the little blind sisters of the poor?
Thinking any position group on our team is good much less elite is in error.
The Don't Worry, Be Happy approach will not improve the Vols from a lower tier SEC program.
Better talent and more depth, good as he is until CRG has it there is no need to swing on his jock strap. Just a journeyman coach doing a job. I am not sure he can ever get the amount of 4 and 5 star talent needed at Tennessee. Do you think he relates well with modern players? The 2022 defensive recruiting can only be described as hind teat. How much of that blame is on him?

I have to wonder what drives a large portion of our fan base to even be fans. The mindset that desires quantum negativity and lashes out at anyone who dares dream of positivity exists on a level of pathalogical brokenness I hope never to understand. It’s really bizarre.

I mean, why not go find another interest if this one brings such misery? Unless one truly enjoys misery, that is.

We were one lucky win (KY) away from a losing SEC record.
KY was the only team we beat with a winning conference record.
I will stop when our signature win is a team not named Kentucky.
You do you. If you are satisfied with moral victories, blaming the refs for losses, and a 4-4 conference record, please continue with your fantasies. Some know a fairy tale when they see one.

I'm 56 years old now, and I have been hearing this my whole life from Tennessee fans. "If you don't hate this team/player/coach you're not a true vol fan". Been hearing it my whole life.

And let me just say, I don't believe for a second that "other school has fans like this". Bleat that all you want. I don't believe it.

I do think the motivation is pretty obvious and yes it's strong enough to keep 'em coming back.

Lol you are ridiculous. You acted like we weren’t close to having a winning SEC record and it literally was one call from being such in year 1 and you went to make excuses again and move the goalposts. It’s not about being “satisfied” with a 4-4 record, it’s recognizing we had a decent rebuilding year with our new coach in year 1 and can build on it next year as well. We were head and shoulders better than in 2020.

If you can take away credit then you must give our team credit for almost eating Pitt, ole miss, and the bowl game. Suck it

man u are insane with no knowledge of football at all.. the defensive line did great it was the lb to blame for the qb running wild not the dl. it was the secondary tht missed alot of plays and to be critical of anyone playing 95 snaps a game with 70 scholarship players on the field is just not right - go follow alabama - might be easier for u tn played 6 teams ranked in the top 10 on offense with 70 players wow u want to be criticl

He's just one of those people that thinks they're being smart by being an obligatory pessimist.

Like duh how could our defense have possibly been good with the talent we had?

They were really bend don't break until the end.

The UK game was the first real disaster.

Held its own against Bama until the fourth quarter.

Held its own against UGA for the most part. Gave up a bad quarter against Pitt.

Pretty much completely shut down Mizzou and USCjr

Just didn't have enough Studs and depth

Why can't people see this?

When is/was the Shrine Bowl? Any updates?
Last night. So many in here pissing at each other I can't seem to find any updates on anyone but Matthew Butler. The North South Shrine Bowl is Saturday at 1:30 CST. Wish they didn't schedule these things on top of UT games but hey. I think Alontae Taylor is playing in the Shrine Bowl. Maybe Velus Jones and Theo Jackson too.

The Saturday game is the Senior Bowl. Theo played last night I think. Velus, Alonte and Cade are playing on Saturday I think
