As I'm listening to Doug Mathews he, again, mentioned in length his opinion that Jauan Jennings will go to defense next season.

I wish it would happen this week.

We have no play makers in the defensive backfield and he is the best athlete on the field and maybe in the country in terms of versatility. Meaning he can play multiple posistions at an extremely high level.

I was sitting in the stands yesterday right before the Hail Mary try and was yelling "put Jauan Jennings back there".

Well, they did, and his first defensive play resulted in an interception.

He has played 1 snap on defense and is tied for second in interceptions on the team.

Unreal.

He also wants Tyler Byrd moved over there which would be huge too.

We would get much more production out of Jennings and Bryd on defense. Allowing them to play defense allows them opportunities to make tons of plays.

He also says he could see Todd Kelly Jr moving to Outside Linebacker. With his great ability to tackle.

Doug keeps repeating that he hasn't talked to any coaches in Knoxville because it sounds like he was approached by people....not sure who??...

Doug, by far, knows his stuff. Don't be shocked if some or all of this happens....

Sweet lawd..stop it. J. J. has been the most important person on offense not named Dobbs all season. His attitude and fight shows up on the stats sheet just fine but trust me he gets his teammates fired up. Imagine the Florida or Georgia games without him as a full time WR... Then shut up

There's more to playing DB than jumping for a Hail Mary. Might want to learn and practice at the position.

I will say, given his ability to go up and get the Hail Mary, I'm still scratching my head about the FIFTY EIGHT YARD field goal attempt against SC

He will be on defense next year. So find a new team if you don't like it.

He is a future NFL safety if he switches to D. he could still play a few snaps on offense. He had one catch and one run out of QB spot. He could play D and still be on field for a Hail Mary at WR. But with him on D, we may not need a Hail Mary because we would be doing the V formation instead.

Yes, he's essentially being wasted on offense. 1 catch yesterday and 1 run. Imagine him play 50-70 snaps on defense and the plays he would make........??????....

This is classic Butch though....play kids out of position or bench them

Yep, I don't see it. Not at this stage. It isn't as if this was a coverage int. In fact, it was a pretty clever move by the staff. Obviously in the defensive playbook. So kudos.

I do agree on Byrd. He has lock down corner skills.

On the other hand, he brings so much passion, I'd get him on the field anywhere I could

I agree completely. Should have made the move earlier in the year.

The change is more likely to happen than not and I'm just sick and tired of people talking **** that are at the most, a casual fan.

I'm ok if it happens in the off season. Either way could be reasonable depending on recruiting, development, and some other considerations.

Carl Pickens was moved 6 games into the season and had never played on that side of the ball. Had an interception in every game and the Vols won every game.

One of Doug's points was the amount of big plays Jannings and Byrd have been a part of on offense as well as the quality WR depth we have on that side of the ball.

How many big plays can you recall from FL and UGA for Jennings and/or Byrd? (We all know the Hail Mary, but Jennings could have made that play being a safety and going in for that play as well.)

You do realize he has played safety more than WR, correct? He hadn't played WR until TN determined he wasn't going to be a QB in college.

Jennings is a safety with his nastiness. Best hitter on the team. Most physical.

Jennings had 1 catch yesterday and 1 run. That's it. His talents are being wasted....

He would be an absolute star at safety. Little bit of Carl Pickens mixed with Eric Berry mixed with Dale Carter.

Imagine Jennings and Warrior at safety. Byrd at defensive back and TKjr at outside linebacker. Wooooooowwww
