Mass shooting of the week, high school in parkland, FL.

This is why arming teachers won't work. Even police officers were hesitant to enter and engage the shooter. I'm not sure how many teachers could.

In my opinion at least teachers wouldn't be expected to go "hunting" for the gunman. They are the last line of defense between their students and the gunman. They should enact lockdown procedures, secure the room, and prepare to engage the shooter if he enters. Leave the seek and destroy to the pros. There was a university that put out a damn good video about reacting to an active shooter situation. We used it in training our security at church. It addresses the differences between roles off bystanders, armed civilians, and armed professionals. I'll see if I can find it. It is very enlightening.

And they did NOTHING

Enlighten me. Are we going to hire teachers who are more competently trained in active shooter situations than local sheriffs?

I don’t know. I’m sure we have some former military members who are teachers. I’m sure we have some ccw license holders who are teachers. At least give them the option and the chance.

I'm sure there are, but I doubt they are sufficient in number and distribution throughout the nation's school system to provide a solid line of defense. Trump just saying let's arm 20% of teachers is extremely naive.

Broward Sheriff Office had official policy to avoid arresting teenage criminals. They even often ignored felonies. This was to reduce the official crime rate.

Literally a police force run by political correctness

Maybe this is why liberals are so adamant to try and divert blame to the NRA

Maybe so. I’d at the very least abolish gun free zones and allow the ccw licensed teachers who want to carry their firearm to do so.

For that approach to be effective, all or most teachers would need to be armed. There's no way to know where a potential shooter will enter and which path through the school he will take. To much is left to chance if only a small percentage of teachers in those rooms are armed. Fact is that someone has to hunt and engage. The teachers can and should be instructed on lockdown procedures. That's already pretty standard.

Judging from the statements from these shooters themselves, the theater shooter James Holmes, he attacked the only theater in the area that didn’t allow guns. Get rid of gun free zones.

The Sheriff is a political activist. No matter which side you're on, we can't have these kinds of law enforcement officials with an agenda. It just ridiculous from local to the FBI.

They are as big of a problem as a cop who do the wrong things during a traffic stop.

Jesus, you will spin anything to try and take a stab at liberals. A corrupt police department does not have a damn thing to do with national politics. It means it is full of local crappy people. Florida is a Republican state. This is your fault.
