Maryville's Quarles could be the next Malzahn

They are handing it to Oakland right now. 21-0 at halftime Offense seems similar to Bajakian's. If we happen to have a vacancy on the offensive staff in the next year or so, I hope Butch offers him the job.

His resume is stellar as a HS coach, and he could very well be the next offensive genius, like Malzahn, to come from the HS Head Coaching ranks. Could be molded to succeed Bajakian in the event Coach Jake gets an offer elsewhere, down the road. Not likely to happen, but I sure would like to see it.

This is true. I saw it when Rankin was at Riverdale. I'm was Riverdale grad from the Rankin years. It's all over though. Nature of the beast

I'm a freshman at UT. When I was middle school, (I went to William Blount), a couple of my friends got calls from both schools talking about how they could start over there blah blah, now we were basketball players but, still. It's not clean.

Not saying anything about wanting him to be HC. Just on staff as a position coach. If it's not so crazy for Malzahn, why should it be for a local coach who has impeccable credentials to move up to the next level?

Where the hell have you been the last 25 years? Everyone in Maryville has impeccable credentials.

Malzahn didn't get a college job because someone recognized his coaching ability. He still might be a HS coach if not for an insanely talented group of players he had that everybody wanted.

He was offered a position at Tennessee a fe years ago and expressed his desire to remount the high school level. At maryville, he has the ability to select certain players from around East Tennessee who want to play for him and doesn't put up with the STUFF college coaches do. His fans don't yet have a board where they can blast his every decision.

Why don't the high schools that accept out of zone students and allow them to play sports have to play the privates that give academic scholarships. I'd like to see Maryville record if they had to play Ensworth, BA, MBA, MUS and Macallie. Everyone knows who plays big boy ball in this state.

How many Alcoa players "live" with coaches in Alcoa yet their parents live in Knoxville I wonder.

I'm sure he was joking but my wife works with the father of one of the Maryville coaches. He is trying to get us to transfer our son to Maryville. Said he could live with his son and come home on the weekends.

I do hear Coach Q owns land in East TN but I don't think his wife was a former UT Cheerleader! :hi:

Plus as an Asst at UT, it would be a pay cut.

I have heard he makes close to 300k per year. Not positive but he has absolutely no reason to make the jump to college. He will be a legend in the HS football after his career is done.

There was a push on here for Fulmer to make him a coach or a GA

Tennessee has a smaller recruiting budget than maryville so I'm not sure if he would leave or not.

are you saying the red rebels buy their players? and that Maryville and Alcoa both recruit their stars. fact is blount county is a great place to live and the football is engrained in the kids from birth-we don't play that sissy soccer , also the football and the women are the best!!it is from drinking aluminum water.
try some it goes down mighty easy.
