Blackman would have beat Maryville in Cookeville. Hendersonville couldn't have beaten Smyrna this past year and we were average.

It's because both are in the Knoxville area, the MSA, of which Blount County is a part. Not too difficult really.

Last I heard, Maryville was up 44-7 in the 3rd. Not sure what the final score was.

Fulton is the best team in the state, period. Athletes, SPEED everywhere and very good coaching. Maryville is 2nd with one of the best HS coaches in the country and great , fundamentally sound players. Too bad these 2 teams can't play each other. Most years, I would pick Maryville, but Fulton is absolutely loaded this year.

FHS was loaded. They lost Rollins, a huge loss, and a loss which many high school teams wouldn't have been able to overcome. But, because of their talent level, they really didn't miss much of a beat, Tate and Hawkins stepped right up and they had a pretty tough, opportunistic defense. A history making team.

Huh - are you delusional? Below is what you said.
i find it amusing every year that Alcoa and Murvul are considered 'Knoxville area teams' after the Knoxville teams get their butts kicked by either or both......I think we should refer to the Knoxville teams as 'Blount County area teams':post-4-1090547912:
Seems like you are the one being sensitive. I find it ironic I was talking up Maryville and you give me crap for it. Anyway, as someone else said, they are in the Knoxville area. Last time I checked, there aren't any Blount County television stations and I'm pretty sure you watch the Knoxville news.

Alcoa is 15 miles from downtown Knoxville and Maryville is about 17 miles from K-town. I'd say that is considered Knoxville 'area'

Not if they make mistakes like they did in Maryville. 2 very costly TOs beat Blackman. Maryville is really good but incredibly coached. Hats off to them. Finding it difficult to compliment some of their fans though.

Every team has "those" fans. Don't let a couple of fans ruin your perception of the program. Please judge the team based on the professionalism showed on the field (handing ball to ref or helping opposing team players up off the ground). Congrats to all knox area teams on state wins.

Alcoa is 13 miles from the UT campus and is right next to the airport. Maryville is a little further at 16 miles.

The UT campus is in the "downtown" area of Knoxville right on the river. Use googlemaps and search for UTK.

If you want to share some more info, we could recommend some areas you may want to check out to live. However, generally speaking:
1. West Knoxville is the most popular residential area with higher priced homes and the most shopping.
2. North Knoxville is a nice area with very nice residential areas but will cost you less. I've seen the same exact home in West Knoxville sale for $799K and cost $599K in North. When we were looking a few years ago I came across the same house for sale at the same time.
3. East Knoxville probably has the lowest cost of living and more lower income residences.
4. South Knoxville (where Alcoa and Maryville are) has a wide array of residences. Some are really nice and on the river, some really nice neighborhoods and also a lot of rural areas. South has been growing a lot recently in terms of shopping and restaurants.

There is not a lot of residences in the downtown area except for student housing and some of the most expensive homes in the area.

Again, depending on what you want and what stage you are in life, each has their advantages and disadvantages. You will find a lot of opinions on here on what is the best area and schools. Many claim West Knoxville has the best schools, but I don't agree. There are schools in North and South that are as good as any in the West.
