For everyone who wants to slit their wrists after last night, I would direct you to look back at the 2001 Maryland team. They blew a huge lead against Duke in the national semifinals. As I remember, the next season turned out alright for them.

That's a positive spin on it...guess I'll put the razor down now.

No wrist slitting here. Am disappointed because we were so close but am also very happy because we were so close. Bitter sweet but better then expected overall season result.

I'd been trying to think of a situation like this where a team blew a big lead in the tourney only to come back and have a huge season the following year. Thanks for having a much better memory than I. :)

I went into the game last night thinking that win, lose or draw I wouldn't be disappointed because of how well we did this year. It is just hard to not be disappointed with the fact we were up by 20. Still, the future looks awful bright.

As funny as it sounds, I keep a box in my gear at all times! Swear to god!

Yea but i just hate it because we actually had their two best players in foul trouble with a 20 point lead... i just knew we were gonna get up by like 30 and if we could have then OSU's run wouldnt had been enough...o well :ermm:

Hat, I have to be honest. This makes me feel better.

I can see us playing well next season, and I think we should dramatically cut down on the number and severity of our droughts in mid game.

Losing happens. Of the 65 teams that started out in this tournament, 64 of them are going to lose at some point. And the only ones who will feel much better about it than we felt last night will be the Belmonts and the Eastern Kentuckys (Kentuckies?) who are happy just to have kept it close for awhile. Everyone else is going to feel sick to their stomachs at some point during the proceedings.

Happily, what happened tonight has exactly zero bearing on what will happen next year. We're a young team, a program that's undeniably on the upswing, and the future for Tennessee basketball is brighter right now than probably, well, ever. The only thing that really does suck is that we have to wait out most of a year to get things going again.

Our game reminded me of Louisville's comeback against West Virginia in the 2005 Elite Eight.
