Originally the game was announced in 2021 when Spider-Man 2 was announced. It takes place in the same universe as the Insomniac Spider-Man games.

The rumor is Insomniac will follow Wolverine up with a full on X Men game. Also they are rumored to be working on a shorter Venom "side story" game, in a similar style as Miles Morales.
