Martaze Jackson to Transfer

Great for both sides. He has a chance to go and play somewhere and we open up a scholarship spot. He more than likely would have gotten minimal playing time and some special teams action. Good luck to Martaze where ever he goes.

Then why recruit him to begin with if they didn't plan on him to be a factor. That was a waste of a roster spot if true.

Because they probably hoped that he could develop into a contributing player by his 2 or 3rd year in the program.

Now after being around him for over 2 years they see that he is not going to ever be good enough to play for the University of Tennessee on a consistent enough basis for his liking so they both amicably decide to part ways.

Make sense now?

Not exactly sure, but I believe to sign 25 we will need 8 more folks to transfer/leave before August.

Wow. That is a lot of house cleaning. Hopefully we can trim the fat. I don't mean to sound insensitive but I am ready for some quality depth and not roster filling bench warmers.

Interesting to look at the roster for Oline, Dline and LB....

First...youth is present. Only 2 seniors leaving.

Second...a lot of names (talent??) yet to be heard from. So there must be some guys buried in there that will rise up next year. Any thoughts?

Other than Jackson leaving....who else has departed?

We needed the bench warmers when Dooley got here, now he can be more selective. I know it sounds bad, but asking the guys to look around now will be better for them and UT in the long run.
