...French told GoVols247 he views his ability to read plays and react quickly and his tackling are the stronger points of his game, but the list of improvements he needs to make as he officially joins the Vols is longer. However, he's confident Tennessee's coaches will improve him and turn him into one of the great players they've coached and developed in the past.
“It’s a lot of stuff I need work on,” French told GoVols247. “I know that there’s going to be faster players, so I need to work on my speed. I need to work on staying low, the whole play. Sometimes a lot, I stay low, but I’ll rise up at the beginning of a play and it’ll be hard for me to make a good tackle. It’s a lot of stuff I need to work on, but I know Tennessee’s going to have me ready for it, just being under Coach Pruitt. I know Coach Pruitt’s a good defensive coach and I know he’s going to have me right, so there’s a lot of stuff I’m looking forward to to get better at...Knowing that he used to coach at ‘Bama with some of the best linebackers that I’ve ever seen play, and just thinking he can turn me to one of those, he and Coach Ansley, they always talking to me, just reaching out — I’m very excited to play for Coach Pruitt.”
