Marshall staying at Wichita State

Maybe prima donna is the word we were seeking? I am gullible, so if I missed the sarcasm, so be it.

Not sarcasm, just a long-running VN inside joke. There are a couple of others that my aging brain can't drag up at the moment.

Edit to add:

Help me out, guys; it's been a long week...

which big time program will need a new coach in the next couple of seasons? Definitely Syracuse with Jimmy B retiring. UNC possibly with the hammer bring dropped on them. But that job might be radioactive for a few years. Crean is doing just OK at Indiana but just making the tourney won't be enough for much longer. How much good will does Thompson III have left at GTown? Maybe Belein at Michigan? That's really the only ones I can think of.

I wonder if Marshall is developing a reputation for being a "Pre-Madonna"? He goes through this ish every year with the same outcome. He's a great coach but it's been said his personality is what cost him the job a few years ago.

Yet he's making 3 mil a year. That argument doesn't work.

There's no reason to leave for a power five job if you already coach at one of the better programs in college basketball and that's what Marshall has created at Wichita State. In the last five seasons, the Shockers have won a total of 151 games including a trip to the Final Four in 2013. There's no reason to leave that type of culture for Tuscaloosa, even if the Crimson Tide were going pay Marshall in excess of four million dollars a year. Wichita State's counter offer will pay the head coach handsomely and more importantly, he'll still have a chance to coach an elite team next season. As long as Ron Baker stays in school, the Shockers will arguably have the best perimeter players in the sport next season with Baker, Fred Van Vleet, and Kansas transfer Conner Frankamp.

Gregg Marshall is no fool. He has said no to a lot of programs, because the programs asking have not given him the pay, facilities, and support he requires. He wants the right circumstances. Just like Chris Petersen leaving Boise State, he will jump only when the right AD and the right opening is offered to him.

Little Richard

I was talking with a friend that is a big Bama donor, and he said Pitino, Jr was out. He went on to say Archie Miller is next then Mike White. If neight accepts the job, believe it or not, former UT coach Martin name has been mentioned.

Yeah, why would anyone ever think Hart deserves anything less than 100% of the credit for anything? Charlie Strong was just a smokescreen and hiring Tyndall was all part of a year-long plan to get Barnes.

Hart is extremely fortunate to still have his job. He's done some good things - hiring Butch, hiring Barnes, getting our financial house back in order. But he still got insanely lucky by backing into Butch and Barnes after bumbling his way around through the entire process. That's why I hesitate to give him too much credit.

Of course, it all worked out in the end for us fans. After the last few years, we were due some good karma.
