Marquette after Cuonzo Martin Per ESPN

If Martin goes to Marquette, expect more of the same for him. About half their fans are already very underwhelmed just by reading their boards.

I'd hope we would go after Archie Miller, turns out both the brothers are pretty darn good coaches.

that actually sounds like a really fun job.

It would be, however he's a long way to becoming anywhere close to being as good as Jim Rome. Rome is a major league troll yet never lets anything get to him (aside from Jim Everett throwing him down like a rag doll).

Travis trolls but turns into a whiner when he is wrong and called out for it. He completely withers and falls for the same trolling he usually dishes out.

CM's decision to stay or go will tell us a lot about how good our basketball team will be next year. If he goes, he believes the team will not be NCAA bound. If he stays,he believes we will have a good sht.

It was mentioned in all of our games, plus post-game interviews. I hate that it drew so much attention, but I'd be lying if I said it didn't deserve it. Those unreasonable fans got what was coming to them.

It is not irresponsible to want a winning (NCAA tourney) team. Martin had three season with some pretty decent players. It looked like he would be 0 - 3. Next year looked unlikely as well. The turnaround was dramatic. We thought we had a shot a Bruce. At the time, it made perfect sense. Only in retrospect does it look "irresponsible."

I hope you and others like you have the same opinion if we go 10-22 or whatever next year. I am all for Cuonzo the man, and the leader of men. As a coach/recruiter at the level of UT, I think he still has some things to prove - and yes, the tourney and late season run was a great start to proving himself.

I personally think that after three seasons, a coach at UT should be pretty close to solidifying his teams into steady contenders for SEC titles. I know next year we will be starting over with a young team (unless Stokes comes back), but how long until we get past all the speed bumps and just play winning basketball? Next year? The year after? Again, Cuonzo is a good coach. The question is: is he good enough to meet our ambitions? For me, it is a close call - even after the run that they made this year. I just don't really expect next year to be much different. It will be another slow start, and then another run to TRY to make the tourney. Is this good enough for you?

I would be willing to bet CCM signs a 4 year extension and stays at UT.
Marquette= Raise

Nobodies getting Archie, he literally just signed a new deal. I'm sure the buyout is similar to Pearl's ATM

I think we let Martin walk. We shouldn't overpay for a guy who has honestly underachieved. He made one tournament run beating two teams that we could have beat with our eyes closed.

just stating the facts, my friend. Only 7 games away from having a .700 record? That may be true, but the truth is he didn't win those extra 7 games yet did he.

Imagine if we had won three extra games in 2012 and 3 extra games in 2013. We'd made the NCAA's both of those years and we wouldn't be having the conversation, but you know what, he didn't win those games, and we made the NIT. So yes, he's only 7 games away from 70% which may be great when compared to other coaches, but that's simply not where he is.

Heck if the Vols only win two more games per year they are squarely in NCAAT with no bubble talk and there were some fugly losses in the last three years (and I say that most if not all coaches have bad losses).

And those losses rest solely on CCM and his teams.

Word around the campfire is that Cuonzo may be willing to leave TN for less money.

He is a radio host on 104.5 the zone in Nashville as well as the great grandson of Nathan Dougherty a UT football player in the early 1900's and former Dean of Engineering at UT. Was also on the athletic board at UT that hired Robert Neyland as the football coach. Brent has deep ties to UT.

Martin is VERY replaceable. Getting to the sweet 16 was an accomplishment but let's face it people we got lucky in the bracket. The upset of Duke made Martin look a lot better than he is. Michigan brought him back to reality. 2 points or 100 points....we lost.

All of you fans who have complained since CCM has been here are going to get what you want. If you thought our team was bad with CCM just wait till you see how bad it is going to get now. Hopefully you will learn a lesson from this but I doubt it. We are going to be worse for the next three years or longer. You get what you ask for and you are not going to like it. Hope you learn how to support your team and coach no matter what. This generation of people wanting immediate success will kill any program. Go VOLS. Hope CCM stays.

The man on my avatar.

What I wouldn't give to see this University run by winners like him again who actually went to UT and gave a damn about it in all respects.

Lol please. We would have beaten duke the way we were playing the past few games. I don't care if he stays or goes but don't act like we won just because we got lucky.

We did. And i hope he goes. Guy got lucky in the tournament and underachieved all year. I have no doubt in my mind another coach can come in here and do as well as Martin. If he wants to go to marquette I'll help him pack.
