Marlon Brown

I don't put much stock in that. My friend also plays safety for Davidson Academy and said Marlon was singing rocky top after he scored a TD against Davidson in the state championship game. Anything could change though.

Vol assistant coach Stan Drayton has been recruiting Brown from the get go and Brown certainly hopes that Drayton remains at Tennessee.

"We are real close," Brown said. "We have a good relationship. If something happened and he wasn't there then things would change some. I would certainly still consider Tennessee, but it would change things for sure."

This is explains a lot about Drayton, Garner and Gran.

"It was amazing. He is a very spiritual and honest man. He was so down to earth; they felt very comfortable with Coach Richt possibly being my coach," Brown said.

"They did not seem concerned at all," said Brown. "In fact, they seemed very confident in their chances. There is a lot of pressure (to stay in state), and it is going to have a huge effect on everything, to be honest. I feel I could leave the state without second thoughts, though."

Brown quipped "Those Bulldog commits, they work on you hard, all of them. Ealey, Lynch, Long, and of course Murray. They do it all the time, but they also make it fun to talk about."

Ugh...Not exactly what You like hearing :banghead2: Somebody send that boy a stripper in orange and white QUICKLY!! :shaking2:

Brown will be a beast, all you people saying that he'll suck dont know what youre talkin bout

I've been gone for a few days. this post seems like it was sent to me.

I never said Brown would SUCK! I just don't think he is a "playmaker". I have seen him play alot in HS. I hope UT gets him (for MANY reasons I will not get into again).

He is a better fit here than OSU/GA. I want him at UT. But for those that think he is a gamebreaker....you are wrong!

A "beast"???? NO! Good.........maybe? UT needs GAMEBREAKERS..They have none!

Peaygolf, you call yourself a fan of the Volunteers but you want UT to get players that you think are average at best. You make no sense.

did you see him run away from those db's in the all star game?

Yes! I am a Vol fan. I am also a realistic VOL FAN!

EVERY great team needs players that...maybe not the best player...but does their job well. If Brown can come here and have 25 receptions 300 yrds and 4tds......GREAT! He is not a game breaker! That is all I have ever said about him. he takes alot of plays off. I have SEEN him do it. He could come here and be great. I have said I hope he does. I NEVER said I don't want him at UT. He is just not the kind of player that is going to be a gamebreaker. I've seen Shi&&y players run away from defenses. He is NOT Shi&&Y, but....He is NOT a gamebreaker. He will not make UT a 10 win team overnight! 1,100 posts on him??????? I hope to God he comes here, but he is not the be-all-end-all!

Marlon.........Please come to UT! We WANT YOU!

ENOUGH! I want him here! He is not a player that scares SEC DC's. I have said he could be a Greg Carr from FSU. Great player in the "red-zone", but not a guy that D's scheme against. I still want him.

Wasn't it All-American db's that he ran away from last weekend? I hope he comes to UT also. I'll leave the downplaying him to you.

some people just have a hard time admitting they were wrong

Good Lord! READ THE POSTS!!!!!

Is Marlon Brown a Percy Harvin? Michael Crabtree? Calvin Johnson? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is is very good, not a gamebreaker. GET THE POINT!!!!!

He is not worth 1100 posts. If ya'll (those bashing w/o reading the ENTIRE post) can't understand. ........I give up! Get a life and understand this...6'5" and can jump. Great....I want him. He's the #1 player in Tennessee. ......I want him. He is a help to UT next year....I want him. HE IS NOT THE BEST WR IN THE COUNTRY! I don't think he is the best wr in Tennessee. He could help....I WANT HIM! Get over the fact that maybe some of you are wrong. If he becomes an AA ....I have said I would be happy to admit I was wrong!

Please come to UT Marlon........we don't NEED you...we WANT you! We are more fun than OSU/GA! IF you want to be the best in the country at your position....go to TSU/APSU. If you want to be good/slot guy that can play within the system, help the "playmakers" make plays, help a team win big by being a third down/Red zone WR......come to UT!

BTW...I can and have admitted when I'm wrong.....Can you?????

Trust me I've read the entire post as well as the entire thread and I just flat out disagree with you. I think Marlon has the size and athleticism and if coupled with good coaching and a good game plan he could be a gamebreaker...when it comes to talent evaluation I'll go with all the big time program recruiters like O, Richt, Tressel, Miles, Meyer....the list goes on and on. I watched the Tenn. state title game and he ruled with an iron fist. You may have some personal vendetta out on him but all of us can't be wrong....the potential is there. I'm sure Michael Crabtree had his fair share of doubters and now how stupid do they look.

you know peaygolf89, the point with Marlon is not really about his skill level. Everyone can agree that he is good. To what extent is up for discussion.

The point is his symbolic effect. When Kiffin was introduced he specificaly said he was gonna lock down the state.

Marlon was his first priority.

If we get Brown it is a huge statement that Kiffin set out to do something and he did it. That is big for him and his staff, the fans, the people who hired him, and it also sends a message to other programs.

This is about getting off to a good start in the Kiffin era and putting a good taste in everyone's mouth after a huge rough patch in the program's history this past decade, and especially the last 5 years.

I'm not in any ways saying that MB is our savior, there is much more to the fooball aspect that needs correcting. I'm just saying that to get MB is the first step in Kiffin putting confidence into Vol Nation and visa vera.
