This may need to be merged. I know Lane is a freshman but he doesn't seem to have any ability to find holes and hit them from scrimmage or on returns. I find it hard to believe that he was a better option than Poole today.

He's no worse than Poole and he's a better weapon catching out of the backfield.

Cant understand why hes back returning punts. Is he the only guy that can catch punts?
He looks like a Good Back for the future, but lacks the Shifty speed that you need in a PR.
Id rather have Arnett back there or DY. Of course, DY is still hurt I guess, but when you only get around 10 yards on a kick off return, you would like to have someone with JUICE to get up to speed quickly. Arnett has that burst, just dont know what the coaches see in practice. Didnt teague return some last year also?

to the people who are *****ing about no holes...poole has the same line, lane is a little shy to go hard and he must think there has to be a huge hole to go 100% towards the los

he's overrated. he joins pick-6 nick and others as this years all-american backup. i think he can potentially be a pretty good player but he's shown nothing greater than poole that makes me think he deserves more carries.

his returns have sucked.

You can't hit holes that aren't there. I understand the nature of message boards is to moan and groan and call for starter X's head, but geez...come on back to earth. When you're not getting any push the running game will ALWAYS suffer.

agree. he just seems real timid. you just have to pick a lane and go balls to the walls to be successful here. lane really doesn't impress me that much anywhere to be honest. i hope its just him being timid or indecisive because if not, he's not nearly as explosive as advertised

He's shown nothing? He has more touchdowns than anyone on the team, does he not?

Neither Lane nor Poole can hit the holes. the biggest reason... well, there are no holes to hit. That is all on the O line. The pass protection is good enough for most any defense we will face. But run blocking is horrible. It is like they are taking the same approach for the run that they do for the pass. They are letting the D line come to engage them, which you have to do in pass protection to avoid inelliglble down field. But on the run they need to be exploding off the ball to re-establish the line of scrimmage. This O line has no push. They need a good solid 2 weeks of sled work to get that into thier minds.

Wow for the past 2 weeks many of y'all thought Lane should be starting over Poole. Now your talkinglike he is a second rate Divison 2 player. He is a true freshmen that is just played in his 3rd game and it happen to be in the swamp.

What holes? Some people criticize Poole. Some hate on Lane. But until they can actually count on taking a handoff without being hit in the back field and find at least some sort of hole to run through... it won't matter who they put back there.

First off there are no holes. Therefore the backs are hesitating as they try to find a seam. Lane is not overrated, he is a freshman playing for the first time in the swamp. You guys really crack me up. We lost so let's place blame on Lane - duh.

IsmLane better than Poole, who really knows at this point.
