Mark Richt

I love how everyone here turns their nose up at a coach who averaged 10 wins a year and has a 74% winning percentage. LOL! Like we are in any position to be so finicky.

I never liked him. I would say he is 10x nah 25x better than what we have.

while at UGA his teams were very undisciplined on the field.could achieve what needs to be done here, a place with real problems, without discipline?

but if it's pruitt or richt. then yeah , richt.

Why wouldn’t they?
Because Georgia and LSU are much easier schools to recruit to with more in-state talent. Just look at the recruiting rankings over the past couple decades...they are both usually ranked higher than us.

I'm not saying Richt would lead us to a Natty. But I guarantee you under him we'd average 8 or 9 wins a year and go to a decent bowl. I also believe he would recruit well. Right now, I'm willing to settle for that compared to the dreck we've had to watch.

Well, ok, why would Gus do any better?

I didn’t necessarily say he’d do better in recruiting. I just think he runs a more innovative offensive system that works better in modern college football. Just my opinion though obviously...any of them would be better than Pruitt.

he would actually lose control of this program.
I’m going to need you to to be a little more specific here. Are you trying to say that Mark Richt could lose control of the Tennessee football program OR has Mark Richt already lost control of the program??

Yes. He has already lost so much control of the Tennessee program that he could risk losing control of the control he's already lost.

I also think we should take Malzahn off the table. Family member works with him and played for him. Nobody working with Malzahn likes Malzahn. Cam Newton also made him look much better than he is. He had his time, it ain’t comin back.

If Mark Richt had the heart for it, he would be great.
A lot of the negative for him is just stupid. He is a near Hall of Fame coach, clean, and recruits lights out. If he updated his offensive philosophy, like most coaches we discuss, it could work. He set the table for Kirby's special ed workshop.
It is a true shame he really is unhealthy, unlike Urban, who simply wants to call his shots. Never met a contract he didn't want to break.

He is a very good man; however, he did not ever have Georgia up to their potential when you look at the talent he had.
Richt is the reason UGA’s expectations rose again. He tailed off some his last few years but his first 8 years raised the bar back to championship expectations at UGA. They only lost 1 game his second year and would’ve been in the playoffs and he had 4 teams that lost 2 games or fewer. He typically recruited around the lower end of the top 10 classes if I recall correctly and averaged 10 wins a season so I’d say he was winning at about the expected level for the talent he had. I’m not saying Richt is a good fit today but to look back on a man that averaged 10 wins a year in the SEC and say he was mediocre or didn’t live up to expectations is crazy. Saban averages 11 wins a year and he has far and away the best talent in the game. This is the Saban effect though. Richt hasn’t been Saban so people say he wasn’t good but that’s incorrect. Smart has recruited even more talent to UGA and has a worse record than Richt at this point.

No thanks. He’s a good guy, but he’s had loaded rosters multiple times during his tenure and done jack squat with them.

That was Chizik, Chief. Not Malzahn.
