Mark Richt quote from the AP

Hope I'm wrong but all the signs look like GA is going to run it down our throats.

From this we have Mike Bobo saying:

"When teams play Georgia, they know we're going to run the ball."

And Mark Richt saying:

"When the safety is their No. 1 tackler, it's usually a pretty good sign for your running game."

Four of our top five leading tacklers are backfield guys according to this. And Gurley is a hard-to-tackle power back.

Hope I'm wrong...

You're not wrong at all. Randolph was our top tackler before he got injured.

But the premise is correct. Lets look at the NFL. The 4 worst teams against the run (Saints, Bengals, Jags and Titans) all have members of their secondary in the their top 4 tacklers.

The Saints have 3 of 4.

The Bengals have 3 of 4.

The Jags have 2 of 4.

The Titans have 2 of 4.

Now for the teams that are best against the run. Guess which way they trend? This isn't complicated... if guys that are playing 10+ yards off the LOS are getting tackles and the 7 guys playing with 5 yards aren't... that's a problem.

And we're not playing our Safeties like we did Eric Berry (pulled in close for run support). Outside of AJ Johnson our LBs have been very lackluster.

I hate UGA more than any other team in America.

UF is a close 2nd.

I don't even hate Bama as bad as those two, Saban being the man and all.

Can't stand Va Tech or K-St either.

Fla & Gerogia are tied for second. Southern Cal is first for obvious reasons.

Curt Maggitt says :finger3:

Outside of his sack against NCSU what has Curt done, exactly, to this point to say he anything but lackluster?

He has 11 tackles after 4 games and a whole lot of snaps. Smith has 12, Lathers has 10.

Compared to other 3-4 LBs they're nowhere near where they should be in raw numbers (by about 1/2). As the topic says... when Safeties and CBs are getting a bulk of the tackles over the LBs that means the LBs aren't getting off blocks.

It's that simple.

Based off what? That great performance against the mighty Akron Zips?

Based off hope. Because that's one thing that a person will never give up on. I'm tired of hearing negativity. We are 3-1. We lost to Florida and suddenly the world is ending. I will always support my Vols and try to see the positive in things. I bet if you told some of this BS you negative fans are saying to the team, they would hit you square in the mouth. Wait until the results of this year before you start the "this team sucks" "fire Dooley" crap. I'm so tired of hearing it. We lost one damn game.

Don't bother. You can't convince a pessimist to look at the bright side or have hope for the future. It's all doom and gloom and if you see a ray of sunlight you're just being unrealistic.

Thanks for the warning man. Obviously people don't realize it's just a game. Instead of having their lives put in danger overseas and worrying about if they'll wake up to see tomorrow like my brother they're worried about our football team losing one game. I hate to see us lose, but there are 37 weekends without football. I'm enjoying it while its here.
